Unfortunately, the more this happens, we will lose Walters
That is a price you pay to be successful but we will have our pick of many talented coaches. Remember, we thought losing OA and Chin was going to hurt the BB program, well, I believe we improved the staff. Winning creates a positive culture and Bret will find a solid DC if Walters leaves.

Just heard that BIG Network wanted to do a special re coach Bielema's return to Madison. He turned them down.
All about the team and program.

We have a cool coach.
On top of this…
Aaron Henry, Bart Miller, Terrance Jamison all returning to Wisky.
Real impressive all around by coaching staff this year. You can see development in every unit, and overall play together.

I try to bring hope and humor to the masses.....It's the least I can do as I feel so fortunate that the Ancients showed enough faith in me to share what is coming in the future .............

We all will be amazed at the things that will cum to pass in the not so distant future ........We really really will.........................................

Thank God we have Robert.
And for the fact that our former athletes make a point of not showing their a$$es on the internet

Yep. great post(especially the part about our bball program losing OA & Chin to Kentucky. tbh good riddance) and Illini fans need to be not scared of success. Coach Underwood has shown how well he has adapted to the fast paced changes going on.
I can completely understand the pessimistic mentality but if/when Walters becomes a head coach (and he will too because he's flat out fantastic) I trust Coach Bielema & Mr Whitman to have a plan in place (heck, our LB coach isn't too shabby ).

I was born in the 80s and I will honestly say for the 1st time I'm confident in where this football is headed and am going to root like hell for them in the process.

  • ANDERSON KIMBALL

MADISON, Wisc. — Alex Palczewski and Josh Whitman felt the gravity of the moment.
Palczewski, a sixth year offensive lineman, wore a wide smile when he saw his athletic director. When Whitman approached Palczewski and they hugged, the lineman lifted him off the turf at Camp Randall Stadium following the 34-10 win.
Illinois coach Bret Bielema downplayed his personal connection coming into his return to Madison, instead focusing on how big of a potential moment a win there would be for the rebuild of the program.
“To do something that’s never been done in 20 years, that’s not common, right?” Bielema said. “You don’t get those opportunities. So to have that moment was really special.”

After they secured that, few displayed the emotion and impact of the moment like Palczewski or Whitman, who stood and gave dozens of handshakes and hugs to players and coaches including Bielema.
“It’s just awesome,” Palczewski said. “It’s history, like 2002 was the last time this happened. I mean, again, this is awesome but it’s not an irregularity. This is something that we’re going to be building towards every single year.”
Palczewski made the decision to come back for a sixth and final year, and remembers leaner times at the beginning of his career before moments like Saturday and last year’s win at Penn State. He’s seen firsthand the growth of the program.
“I think back to years past, I almost cried in like the fourth quarter,” Palczewski said. “I mean, it’s awesome just the way that the program is turning right now.”

I agree wholeheartedly with this post but I do have one nit to pick. It's one of those things that you know bothers you way more than it should, but you just can't seem to shake it. I'm referring to the acronym for Iowa. The way I heard it years ago, and what I think rolls better is Idiots Out Walking About. Thanks for letting me rant.

This was my first trip to Camp Randall for a game. No Illini fans within 10 rows of me. I was completely surrounded! My best friend (UI undergrad, UW grad) has gone all Badger (still cheers for Illini, when not playing Bucky). He asked politely with about 6 minutes to go, if we could leave and he could buy me a beer. The UW fans were completely distraught, until they started drinking again. I almost (but not quite) felt guilty for the beating. And yes, the refs were exceedingly fair in the first half. Not what you expect on the road in the B1G. Overall, one of the most satisfying football games I have ever attended.

ps- Bucky fans were polite, even congratulated me on the victory.

I don't get to do these as often as I want but I made sure to bring it back for the great performance:

The Good:
- Devito with the perfect game while understanding the context. On the road against an opponent that has owned you for 25ish years. No turnover worthy passes. Excellent movement in the pocket to extend plays. Worked through his progressions. Dream first half of the season from him. Undoubtedly an upgrade at the QB position since ....... Lunt's best season?
- Hightower with his best CFB of his career. Huge first catch of the game that established the offense was willing to go deep. Moved the chains a number of times. No idea if Bryant's injury is a long-term concern but Hightower would be an important solution.
- Avery is officially the guy we all hoped for when he committed. Just dominating the middle and raising the floor of Illinois rushing defense. Also gives lots of flexibility on defensive fronts/responsibilities. Both terrified and happy for all three that Newton, Avery, and Randolph could be in the NFL next year. Glad TeRah flashed yesterday because he might be needed a LOT next year.
- Wasn't needed a lot, but Love did fine in his carries. Alleviated the concern about no McCray for this game.
- That first punt from Robertson was massive. We all had concerns about the special teams for this game but Robertson was solid, Griffin made his longer FG (while injured).
- Five-for-Five in the Red Zone. Huge to see the offense answering those concerns.
- Happy for Nicholson. He's been picked on with DW31 on the other side but he held up well after the first possession. Interception was also great to put on film.

The Bad:
- Timing between DeVito and Tip Reiman needs to improve. There is one play a game where they are just off on space or time. Opportunities are there, gotta cash in.
- Hope the Bryant injury isn't long-term.
- PFF still isn't loving the linebackers play right now in pass rush or coverage, Hart especially. Probably still recovering from the ACL. The linebacker rushing defense scores are still excellent.

I'm glad you had a good experience! I cannot say the same of the 2019 game in Champaign. The female Bucky fan started screaming as time expired that we should all shut up since we weren't going to a bowl anyway.

She wasn't particularly amused when I pointed out they wouldn't be going to a good one after losing to us, either. Oh well 🤷‍♀️

I’m glad they were nice to you. When our crew of ten dressed in our Orange and Blue went to the game in Madison about 15 years ago, Badger fans were horrible to us. One guy even yelled out our group from across the street, “A$$h#@%s, A$$h#@%s” before the game. No one was nice to us.
