Illinois 26, Nebraska 9 Postgame

I don't know how many members this forum has? If we were to take a poll. How many of us when it was announced Coach Bret Bielema was taking the Head ball coaching position. Would have honestly thought in his 2nd year we may possibly win the West and Could win the Big10 Championship. Ever? Let alone in year 2. It is simply amazing to me, after watching this.program since leaving school in "91". 30+ years of suffering and let downs.
I for one was excited because Coach had gotten those 3 NFL season under his belt. But this season has exceeded my expectations. Just Freaking Awesome! šŸ’Æ %

Sorry about the momentary hope, Nebby. I tried to warn you. It was always going to be a mirage.

Hope all your players recover quickly from their injuries.
Did we have any injuries other than the lad who got his bell rung?

That was Marchese as I recall.

BB spoke only about McCray, specifically. "Just being cautious, and don't want to jeopardize anything long-term."

He then added that everyone else should be fine.

Agreed, but TDV was injured in the 1st Q against the squawks and Art (and the D) held things together enough to get the win in a game that was far from decided. UNL could not sustain their offensive momentum after their starter was out.
True, but the Neb backup didnā€™t have the nationā€™s leading rusher and the nationā€™s best D to lean on. Except for teamā€™s that are traditional powers, on a streak of winning seasons, or extremely lucky, having to play your backup QB is for the most part not conducive to winning. Iā€™ve posted I was confident that Walters would make the right halftime adjustments, but to pretend that Nebraska having to go with their backup didnā€™t impact their second half offense is silly. Not taking anything away from the D, cuz I think Illinois would have won the second half and the game. But come on.

Something like this, but more FIFD, and less dog motif?

So what's preventing us from being an offensive force? It's it our WR or just conservative play calling?

Turnovers were a big plus fo us even though some were Nebraska induced. We still have areas to improve, but wow, what a great season so far.

I glanced in the game thread and that was a mistake. Nothing but toxic doom and gloom when it was only 9-6. Absolutely no faith in this team or coaching staff.
I could not watch the game live. Recorded and watched, then read the in game thread. Unbelievable. I have made a conscious decision to no longer read the game thread in the future. Way to many hot takes. People were criticizing Devitoā€™s decision making. He was 20-22 for crying out loud!

What I was trying to say, although probably not well, was that it is nice to be the team that is good enough, as a team, to overcome losing our starting QB against a squawks team that we hadn't beaten in forever and a top 10 D (at the time) and still win the game. UNL had a lot of momentum and our pressure that knocked their starter out effectively ended the game. After that, they had no chance of winning today. That squawks win is the sign of a good team. UNL is not a good team.

Does anyone else have the "Whopper Whopper Whopper Whopper Junior Double Triple Whopper" song stuck in their head? I keep seeing this commercial during our games and others.

GO ILLINI!
