Purdue called for 6 penalties, and at least one was offsetting while three were applied to kickoffs. Illinois called for 12 penalties. If Illinois was really that bad, Purdue would be up by three scores. This is pour officiating keeping a team in the game (and probably giving them the win in the end).

This for me is very revealing as to team discipline and mental preparation. Unfortunately, most of that must be laid at the feet of coaching staff. That being said, great players should be able to execute in spite of it.

12 penalties today and we we know the refs are calling PI so we don't even try and get a call we throw short. Come on guys a PI comes with automatic first down even on 3rd and 37

I honestly can't believe we didn't do this. Purdue accepting the penalty was a gift.

At this point, giving refs an additional reason to throw flags is a terrible idea. Not at this point in the game with so much on the line.
