Our freshmen guards played against two of the best point guards in the country. Clark and Campbell. They held their own this weekend.
Not negative at all. Looks like a great twister partner to me anyway. All positive, in my view.WATCH THIS!!! I'M GONNA GO IN AND POST SOMETHING REALLY OBNOXIOUSLY NEGATIVE JUST TO GET A REACTION!
I agree that Vander Plas was the difference. His flop on his 3 point shot was the turning point. We went from up 58-56 to down a point, and never recovered. The replay seems to show pretty clearly that he was untouched and had free landing space.Vander Plas was the difference.
TSJ had a rough last 4 minutes.
lol. I believe economists call that "revealed preference."They were in both the UCLA and UVA game threads. Not a single positive comment in either. Didn't post in the UCLA post-game thread. They post that in this thread. Easy ignore.
Who in the hell is Meyers? I am embarrassed that I don’t know this playerGot away from playing Harris. Our coach played their game Instead of playing ours. Hawkins and RJ need to grow up fast. Also on Meyers I’m embarrassed by that hook Meyers was trying to get.
He's Miles Leonard's brotherWho in the hell is Meyers? I am embarrassed that I don’t know this player
Now tonight I am having dinner in the Mexican restaurant in NY NY and the Vander Plas family is sitting at the next table. Wonder if I walk by him if he will spasmodically flop to the floor.
One thing I want to add (this is not directed to you Sky), as it is mentioned here often and also to me by my wife when I yell at the TV. These are just kids, and I want to remember that.Just randomly go up and tell him his mustache looks stupid.
We saw why Tony Bennett is a hall of fame coach today.
It was hard to get a good I-L-L going because that goofy DJ kept monopolizing every break in action. I sat near some Krush kids who tried but they were drowned out by him.Not sure anyone wants these updates any more (or ever did ), but what a different vibe in the arena for the second game today. Crowd, while still majority Illini, is so quiet.
Amnesia from the Loyola loss?
Yep....we missed more shots...but that doesn't mean we can't rebound a few of those missed shots.....get just a few offensive rebounds for put backs or another offensive set means a chance for more points....maybe???Not picking on you specifically, but here are the rebounding percentages for today’s game:
UVA: .718
UI: .719
They got more boards because we missed more shots.
Thank you. I thought the officiating overall was fine. They let the teams play. Like you said, VA was the aggressor and thus got more calls. Their ability to orchestrate switches that left Illini in mismatches added to the foul disparity. It wasn’t a perfectly reffed game, but it wasn’t anywhere near terrible.I was in the second row. The refs didn't cost us the game. The three pointer that Skyy fouled on was questionable and a game changer with us up two and had the board but they attacked the rim more than the Illini..
Virginia has a team drove and attacked the basket much more than our team as a whole so they got to the line more often and made them. Epps and Shannon attacked the rim but not like they did.. We had good looks from three especailly in the first half just did hit like vs UCLA.
I thought the replay showed foul, but your vantage point live might have shown different. But it is is a play that with that amount of contact will be called a foul 90% of the time.As the freshman get more experience we will be fine. Up two with three minutes left and got the board but Skyy made a critical freshman mistake giving them three free throws. It was questionable whether it was a foul or a flop from my seat but that really seemed to change or mojo after fights Ng back to take the lead.

Two hours ago he was a flopping enemy and now he looks and sounds just like a happy kid talking to his folks about the game.
It’s a fair point. Just an observation.Y’all are acting like it’s just easy to make Virginia not play their game when they’ve been playing that game for a decade+.
Love them both. Super high on RJ especially. He just hasn’t found his way in the new system yet.Interesting take. IMHO, CoHawk and RJ are our two most complete players, neither of whom force offense but can be deadly. They do all the little things....all the time. But both are involved in a ton of plays and are highly visible. Their blunders are magnified because they are there and involved. Lucky to have them both.
Saying ahead of time...fan of both but...Cohawk is in the middle of things and RJ who I am a fan of is not...I believe it will improve...Interesting take.
