Joliet has two high major guards. Jeremiah had almost 10 rebounds by himself. Yes Rita has Bell, but he is young and I wouldnt call him a ball handler yet. They had more guards. One ended up leaving the team earlier this year. I dont remember the circumstances, but I do remember that the timing wasnt the greatest. Plus all of the aforementioned reasons missed free throws, playcalling, etc. Jamal Thompson will help with some of that. Im very interested in how he helps out the guards. Rita will be tested early. Simeon looms next Saturday night. Good to see Morez and Brown have double doubles, but it was closer to 15 and 10 apiece for them. They will figure it out.
Been a bit since Simeon has had someone we’ve been after. Anyone to keep an eye on this year, or years to come?

St.Rita actually have 2 new guards transferred in,both are pretty good 1 from Homewood Flossmoor (played with MF) and the other one from Indiana. As you all know having 3 transfers on a team in the beginning of the season (Nojus too) you going to have some growing pains especially on a high school level.

Yes last year their sophomore point guard left the team for mental health reasons with about 2 weeks left in the season. He ended up transferring to a school in Indiana. They had another good guard that transfered this summer to Simeon. Also it was the first game of the season and one with a shot clock. When Bell comes back they will be fine.

Just wome thoughts...How does St. Rira lose when they are up 14 with 4.30 minutes left in game? Especially when you have 3 high major recruits on the floor?

Morez much bigger than last year, seems to be bigger and better than JB. Body shape reminds me of Dainja. Mostly inside player now.

JB, similiar game to Morez. Seems a little stiff and mechanical. Showed some ability to dribble but often dribbled into double teams. A junior, but I dont see him as a Duke recruit. Wonder if a Coleman Hawkins type big would work better. Once again his game can develop the next two years.

Indrus..., not overly impressed. Needs weight room and stronger with dribble. Made several mistakes like dribbling to bucket to far and into traffic with no where to go. Wasn't automatic from outside. Was surprised by how many "coaching" mistakes he made, expected better fundamentals.
It's been a bad week for St. Rita, as their football team also lost a 4th quarter lead against their rival in the semi's. I agree with your assessment; I do think those three will get better as they obviously play together more.

Was EJ Liddel real smooth? I see Morez's game like his--a post player who will be able to shoot the three pointer, but will look "mechanical" as he tries to drive to the hole.

They have a guard that has been on Varsity since his freshman year. One kid transferred in from St Rita. They also have a freshman guard who is going to play varsity. Im having a bad morning with names. They got the Rubin twins over there. They transferred from Homewood a few years back. One is going to Loyola and the other is going to school in Iowa. They are ranked #1 by the Suntimes, so there is some talent over there. Keep in mind the Suntimes ranking is basically Chicago and the surrounding areas. Unless I go to a tournament, I rarely see the southern teams play.

St. Rita lost again, similiar issues from couple days ago. Bad decisions and poor execution, especially post feeds. The coach decided to play Brown and Morez separately, then went mostly with Morez.

SRHS is frustrating team to watch knowing they have 3 high div1 players but somehow the flow of the offense is flawed. JB and Morez should be able to run a high/low offense but they seem to crowd each other down low. Morez playing up on defense/top of the key was pretty effective, and disruptive. Posdibly do more of that and keep JB down low.

Once again see Morez as a higher recruit and don't see JB as a top 25 blue blood recruit IMHO.

This may be a stupid question but with our open scholly and the current trajectory of both programs, what are the odds we could get Cam Whitmore?
Big wish...he hasn't played for his Villanova team yet...

Would he be eligible for us spring semester though since he’s not yet played? Or are you guys saying we wouldn’t be interested in a rental if it were even on the table?

He's not eligible this season for anyone other than Villanova.

The "trajectory " of the program is pretty much irrelevant to his decision. He's lottery level talent. Not sure if ge still is if he doesn't even play. But I am pretty confident his stock would drop with a transfer for no other reason than wins and losses.
