The negatives about this game were obvious to everyone...so I will not comment.

But two positives were completely unexpected...but the source was not surprising for one.

COHAWK with a triple double!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! His variety of skills is huge.
ILLINI played a game with only SEVEN.......I repeat....SEVEN....turnovers!!!!

It shows somebody is impressing upon them (I strongly suspect who) the value of ball security.

Also, a gold star to RJ who is slowly rounding into the player we expected and wanted him to be.

This game was invaluable. Seeing and working through the zone will come up big for us later in the season. Yeah, it wasn’t always pretty, but it was worth it. Oh, and our defense was fantastic.
I’ve read through this whole thread, and I’m coming here to post something I haven’t seen yet. The game plan by Brad and his coaches with Coleman at the top of the key as the facilitator to break the zone was obviously outstanding. Kudos to not only Coleman for his triple double, but for the coaches putting him and the rest of the team in the position to utilize his skills and succeed at the highest level.

I know we’ve thought this before after some games, but this game for Hawkins had a totally different feel. This might really be the game that turns him into an all around stud night in and night out. I really hope so. Happy for him tonight. Looked confident and having fun.
He really is a dude with that modern NBA big skillset with his ability to defend anywhere on the court (very switchable and good at the rim), ability to shoot threes with good passing skills. Just needs to play within himself, be consistent, not play stupid and not let his emotions get in his way... in my opinion he's the only person that could stand in his own way from making it to the next level. Tonight was a great step for that.

So what was the double technical about? Idiots on TV didn’t mention it

Looks like no love lost between Brad and Boeheim in the handshake line. So glad the Illini shut that jerk up! :illinois: -L-L

Truly one of the all time miserable people to deal with for anyone that has had to endure it.

It's pretty apparent Illinois was just figuring out how to handle the defense in the first half. The second half would be much more indicative of their future imo. This team learns pretty fast I've noticed.

Also glad to see Rodgers get some points.

7 TURNOVERS!!!!!

The story of the night, IMO. We could've gotten frustrated at the ball not going in and tried to force things, but we stayed patient and it payed off. I thought we played pretty consistently well all night, it's just the shots weren't falling for a good chunk of the game. Good to see we didn't get rattled.

Coleman could've had close to 20 assists if we were shooting it better. We are a top 5 team when he plays like that.

I think it is more apparent that we couldn't shoot for crap in the first half. Even after heating up we shot 28% from 3 and only 64% on FTs. That would have been much worse without RJ's late FTs.

Syracuse is pretty horrible. We shot that poorly and still beat them by 29.

CoHawk with the triple double
Epps with some needed 3's to break down the zone
excellent approach to exploiting the zone with Cohawk or Rodgers in the paint passing out or even attacking and scoring
RJ came on in the 2nd half with I think 14 points
Sincere got hurt when the doofus big for cuse fell on his ankle
Bu pleased with mayer's hustle
