If USC loses to Utah tomorrow and/or if Purdue beats Michigan on Saturday that will end this debate.

Looking forward now that the Rose Bowl is singing a different tune, how does a 12~team playoff work? Do only lowest ranked 8 play in the first round?

Seems to me that if Ohio St were to go to the orange bowl then that would probably bump us down to Nashville? Seems that the Reliaquest bowl can't pick a B1G team if a B1G team goes to the orange bowl?

There’s still a lot to be decided this weekend but right now either Tampa or Nashville.

Why would OSU not want a rematch in the rose bowl? Does it really matter?

Don't think their fans or players would want to do the same thing as last year especially when it doesn't have playoff implications.

If college football expanded like 15 years ago, it’s possible major conferences would’ve been intact…
Winner of each conference goes to playoff. throw in some at large berths.

Yeah it has to be top 4 get a bye. Have to get to 8 teams left. Not sure how numbers can work out where lower ranked teams play against one another, and still end up with 8.

According to the Athletic the BIG loses its Tampa bowl slot if OSU is in the Orange Bowl and PSU goes to the Rose Bowl. For what it’s worth, they have us going to the bowl in Phoenix on the 27th against Baylor. They put Iowa in Nashville.

What a bunch of bull. It looks like we’re going to get screwed over.

This would be absolutely outrageous.

There is no way that Illinois drops that far. I think Charlotte is the lowest Illinois can go. It seems like these "experts" forget that Iowa fans are pretty fed up with the team their team this year, and rightfully so. With the way their season ended, there is no way they would be a big ticket or tv draw.

Remember when the Rose Bowl was kind of a big deal?

I imagine you play it as a four-round, sixteen team tournament, with the top four getting first round byes.

Did we have a bad turnout at the RedBox Bowl? What about the Texas Bowl or Fight Hunger Bowl? If not, why would the B1G assume such lower B1G would be a better draw than us? Shouldn't our fans be hungrier? Iowa fans seem to travel well but in a down year for them? Cmon people in charge, don't do this to us...

Unfortunately it seems like Illinois Football continues to be disrespected. First with the officiating at Michigan, then with Chase Brown not being first team all conference and now this. Why cater to the Buckeyes whinning about a rematch in the Rose Bowl?

I think I saw somewhere that OSU only sold like 3/4 of their allotment last year.
