A little worried about losing Kane, because it appears he is really good at coaching OLBs based on his teams' histories of getting sacks!

BUT I think I am more excited about keeping a DB coach, since we are DBU! It sure would be hard to lose both the safeties and CB coach.

Yeah, I'm onboard. BB certainly kept the big, likable personality who possesses the teaching/mentoring "gift". He also seems like a magnet when it comes to recruiting.

Sure hope Buh stays too.

One of those surprise hires without really being a surprise. I have been drinking the Kool-Aid for a long time and still tastes good. A change of scenery can bring about a ton of feelings. BB in charge of things is the new norm and feel comfortable and confident in his decision making.

Initial reaction is certainly one of disappointment- it’s great that we’re keeping Henry but with the rise of the program this year you’d expected ext to draw a big time DC or keep Kane

I think on the field we’ll be OK - BB will just spend more time with the defense and mentoring Henry- but Leonard would have been nice and giving Henry a bump to stay without making him DC

Why has nobody mentioned the fact that we’re about to get two new coaches. I’m excited to see who else BB brings in. RW and KK are old news.

I have to admit really disappointed with this hire guy doesn't seem to have the experience or any type of wow factor a Leonhard or even a Kane for that matter has as a former DC like others have posted idk what was going on behind the scenes but if this is purely based off recruiting I'd have to think it'd be easier to pay good and get a good recruiter as assistant then to get a top shelf DC.But ill keep my faith with my coach Bret I just really hope this don't lead to a major setback cause when you got momentum going forward and you take a stepback it's really hard to get that momentum back

Seems strange to me for staff members (not RW since he is becoming a head coach) and even players (at least the speculation of players) to so easily jump ship to go to a rival conference team after playing key, active roles on their current team. As an Illini fan I don't think I could switch loyalty to a rival big ten team if I tried. Makes you wonder what goes through the minds of players and coaches now a days when school songs play and teams celebrate victories and morn defeats together. I wonder what percentage of players in particular truly feel bonded to the team they are playing for. I don't really mean this to be critical of anyone but just some questions all of this brings up in my mind.

It’s their job. They aren’t fans of a certain school like we are.

You realize we have a coach who played at Iowa and coached at Wisconsin?

It's just how it works.

So we'll need to fill DB coach, OLB Coach, and prob one other positional role?
