Might be selective memory, but we seem to have a pretty decent hit rate at least recently on guys offered this late in the recruiting process.

moving pretty quick on DL Jeremiah Warren; visiting today; already a couple CB predictions.
I liked his film. He seems like one of those players no one hears about, but ends up emerging into a pretty good player. We need another DL and we struck out on a lot of targets, so we needed to do something quick. maybe we will get another DL in the portal.

yeah hopefully he can develop, and we really do need bodies on the DL. Crazy lack of DL recruits the past few years: Newton and McConnell are the only 2 left on the roster from the past 3 classes. I'd be in favor of grabbing another developmental one in the portal even if the Law Firm stays

Do we like the WKU Qb that is in the portal? I hope we have a good safety net at QB. I was hoping that could’ve been Mertz.

I’m sure we do, but man we have a lot of QB questions right now

Is seems they must, but I don’t know how. Thought it sounded like a long shot originally.
I am curious to hear the "argument" for another year? I have certainly lost track of all the rules and machinations over these recent years. I actually believe college sports should allow anybody that wants to keep playing, to keep playing as long as they are making progress toward degrees. Let the coaches and players decide when they are done. It would occur naturally. Of course I don't how that could coexist with NIL. It could open a different can of worms and require strict regulation and roster/scholarship balancing. I don't know, but there are probably many players that would rather keep going to college, get an advanced degree, and play football, instead of hoping to make a pro practice squad for a couple years. I'm not sure who it hurts?

Recruiting is fluid wonder where he lands. Even O$U isn’t immune to the churn

From that article:

More than ever, it’s getting harder and harder to keep a college football commitment. With NIL taking center stage, a pledge to a school is just a minor step these days in a long, arduous journey to keep that player committed and officially signed when it’s time to push the paper in front of him.

I have no idea how college programs plan on sustaining million $$ players on the college scene.

How can we expect 17/18 year olds to be devoted (there has to be a better word) to a school when there is always a way out in the form of the portal and million $$ payouts?

Dunno. I, for one, just do not enjoy college sports as much as I did in 1979 or even as recently as 5 years ago.
