yeah I was hoping for Hill too, and it doesn't seem likely...BUT looking at this class, assuming a few things like we get the CB/DL we just offered, Elzy commits and Lott likely goes elsewhere, it really is quite an improvement over even just a few years ago. We'd have three 4 stars, and excluding kicking specialists, 15 of our 20 commits would have other P5 offers and/or be in the top 1000 rankings; and the other 5 (Farrell, Muragin, Bray, Warren, Guinn) seem to have a decent shot at developing after a few years bulking up. Compare that to 2021 and um, yeah, we are trending up. Still need to land a top option DL at some point, but things are improving.
This staff has also been good at finding late addtions (McCray, Bailey) so we could possibly add even more talent to 2023.
Wow! Did that just happen? Hope to see him on the field soon. Nice job Illini players if showing what is possible.

Patterson: love this pickup. love his length, love that he has 3 years left and that he's enrolling in January. think he's got a good chance to be in the rotation, if not starting, from the get go.

We was pretty much a no name player for the most part until after Illinois started to recruiting him. Just a couple of days a go, he didn't even have a rating, then all the sudden he just blew up. Other schools didn't know about him.

The recruiting services are not infallible. They don't have unlimited resources. Some kids fall through the cracks, particularly those in backwaters. Great ID job by our recruiting staff.

My guess is the Texas Tech transfer.
Smith from Texas Tech can ball. I’d be interested to see what he can do with our staff. He had some big games in his time at Tech. Interesting side note is that his dad was born in STL and was once the running backs coach at Illinois.
