Honestly Chris Collins with our players would create an offensive juggernaut. The sets Northwestern runs are beautiful and always make sure their best two players have a chance to make a shot.
Agree. They actually run motion offense with cuts and picks with purpose. Us....not so much.

This team is like watching the Titanic sink. Built to be great...but sinking into irrelevance. The most talented, hard working, and best basketball players are sitting on the bench plus DD. Gotta play defense from tip to buzzer...but too many breakdowns. Would love to see the Illini work their tales off to hold Cats scoreless in the second half. If I see TSJ take another three that he flips up off balance it will be too soon.

Hope Harris can defend without fouling....we need him. Illini can dominate this game but are not doing anything they need to do well. Hit shots, hit FT, eliminate TOs, and play banshee defense...but can they do any of those?

Yeah, it’s a gamble. I mean we hit with Plummer, but TSJ has been slumping. I think it’s best to build with recruits and he can blend them together over time, if he can keep them from entering the portal. It’s a tough job now.

Best players need to be developed internally. Transfer portal for complementary pieces and older pass first guards

Live look at the Illini locker room:

I would've walked out and told them to figure it out. But I'm also not a D1 head coach and if I were, I wouldn't be one for much longer.

When Brad yells at these players, they draw further into their shells and shut down. It does not motivate them. He needs to adjust his leadership style with this soft bunch, and find a way to motivate them. Maybe a better balance of carrots and sticks would work. Who knows, but at present they are a collection of individuals who either can't or won't play together as a team, fight for loose balls, and challenge each other to be accountable. Terrible to watch.

I want to not be over critical of Hawkins. However those of you that think he is anywhere close to Brian Cook or a first rounder are at the moment guzzling orange Kool Aid.
Epps is playing well. Not perfect but his demeanor is sold and reminds me of Brian Cooks years ago. I know it's a different position but he may miss a shot but won't get us beat with careless screw ups.
Our third year guys in RJ and,Hawk need to step.up or let Epps or others take the lead on the court
I think we need Goode back asap. He wasn't perfect but he didn't get up brat by screwing up over n over either.

Bro what? Podz would be getting his lunch money taken on defense. We all complain about Skyy defensively. What makes you think Podz would be better?
Shooter.. shooter.. shooter. Even if it’s 9 points a game… he is a shooter.

I love Hawk. I think he has so many awesome tools, but man, I am sick of seeing him out past the three-point line. Can we please put him at the top of the key or post him up?

We've seen we can't run a 5 out. We've seen aren't good at a spread. We know we can't shoot. We need to find an offense that complements our length and speed. We desperately need more cuts to the basket, easy layups, and mid-range jumpers. Please. I can't watch us clank anymore threes. It's killing me.

We have very few players making a positive impact, and three of them (all 3?) had to sit with two fouls. We need Harris, Epps, and Dainja in the game this half.

At the end of the half I knew we were in trouble when we had our usual starting lineup on the floor. How sick is that?

Also agree. I see well coached teams running offense with confidence and purpose with a lot of movement. We get SOME cutters but still see five guys standing too often. Love to see the "ball on fire" movement we sometimes get...but too often it ends up with a pass like Hawkins made without looking...and going the other way.

Last time illinois didn't shoot a single free throw in a complete game?
