I'd actually disagree with Chris Low on this being a huge get. Cowboy fans weren't sad to see him leave although a change of scenery will probably help him. Sanders has a ton of experience but he also commits a ton of turnovers and questionable decisions that someone with his experience shouldn't make. I don't think we ever went after him but I wouldn't have wanted him here.

Rumor is...Jaxson Dart, the incumbent QB and Spencer Sanders will battle for the starting job this spring. The loser will enter the transfer portal. I wouldn't be opposed to hanging around the back alley waiting for some scraps!
So is the portal open again after spring ball to allow movement after a competitive battle? If Sanders lost, he can transfer again without sitout penalty since he is likely a grad transfer?

The portal is currently closed, but will reopen in May. I'm not sure of the transfer rules and only go by the rumors from this internet machine! It doesn't seem logical, but in this age of NIL, what is logic??

I do think once you are a “grad student “ you can transfer as often as you want .

and you probably can do so as often as you want even if you haven’t graduated . NCAA can’t really enforce the transfers as they were granting exceptions to every athlete EXCEPT the ones that tried coming to Illinois. ABI alive and well within the NCAA

We did the kabuki with this guy, now he's in the portal.

Wonder if we'll reach out?
We should - he actually committed here before flipping to Miami if I recall correctly, different coaching staff of course. But anybody with 42 games starting under their belt at a P5 school, would be a very good solution

I'd much rather have Adams at RT or G then have to have him play C because we don't have anyone else that is ready - Clark would be a plug and player starter at C

Ok, i'm a little confused on why we went after another DL? I'm not complaining, i just thought we were going after players from a different position , we are pretty stacked at DL.

Lot of NJ, Ind and PA offers hgoing out. How is the 24 Illinois HS class shape up ?
No idea about overall quality or who we have a chance with, but according to 24/7 the Illini have offered top 11 in-state players in class as well as 14 and 19. Our first commit was #19 Hansen, an OL. Three others (#2, 3 and 5) have committed elsewhere and ND has a CB for #1 player in state. Illini have also offered 9 Illinois players in 2025 class thus far.

Not from Illinois, but noticed that 24/7 has 2 prospects with a “warm” status for Illini — 4 star OT from Iowa, Grant Brix, and 4 star LB from Georgia, Andrew Hines.
