This has the been the rinse and repeat job Cardinals fans have been use to for many years

It is all about the hot team at the right time of the year. Our 2006 and 2011 Championship teams were not our best teams on paper or throughout most of those seasons.
Exactly. 2006 and 2011 timed their runs perfectly for October. It was unexpected and fun. But that 2004 team…oh man, they were special. Still bummed about that finish.

I prefer seeing the playoff caliber team that DeWitt produces every year rather than what I experienced in my early years as a Cardinals fan before he took over. It's not only more profitable for ownership, it's more fun for fans. I'm sure Mets fans are ecstatic right now, but rewind 5 years or fast forward 5 years and the same may not be true.

I personally love the steadiness of this team and I don't want that to ever change. Make pragmatic moves, make a few splashes, always have a few franchise players, focus on winning culture, and let the chips fall where they may. If the process ain't broke, don't fix it. World Series Championships don't just fall in your lap. A lot of skill and a bit of luck is the recipe every year.

Hmm. I am not sure how good of a broadcaster he is. I'll have to listen to some of his calls on youtube before the season begins.

I did a quick search and a Braves board on SBNation have these comments:

I don't complain about announcers too much, but Chip is grating for a lot of things cited in the various comments I've perused so far. The "I told you....." that he says every time he guesses correctly what might happen later in a game is annoying as well.

I wonder how this is an 'upgrade' for him. There's lore around Cardinals' broadcasters historically, I guess, and they are a rather iconic franchise, but the Braves aren't chopped liver in either regard, either....
Ya’ll are wild. The guy said some bonehead things but his homerun calls were exciting at least. “A swing and a drive! Belted right! Welcome to the shoooooow!” You’re going to miss him when we get a golf tournament announcer.
Finally! The Human Baseball Cliche machine moves on. Now who’s gonna say: Rest versus rust, bloop and a blast, Center cut!, watch the game or observe the game (Not that he did the latter), back of the bubble gum card, tools of ignorance?

I don’t know McLaughlin, but he can’t be any worse than Chip as a baseball broadcaster. Caray is a fine example of the pitfalls of nepotism.
It's hit HIGH AND DEEP... And caught by the shortstop...
Thank goodness. Finally. I am sure he his a nice guy, but he is completely terrible at this job. It was taking away a small bit of enjoyment from every broadcast. I should not have to consider watching each game on mute, and that has been going on for years.

I wish Chip all the best, truly. But I am truly glad he will no longer be broadcasting for the Braves.
And the best one as far
Revenge for the infield fly, Redbirds.

Yeah this news is not great. It was always known that they were going to want someone with St. Louis connections. My guess is that Caray was the 2nd option after Goldsmith turned down the job. I'll be interested to see how much of a water carrier for the front office he was in comparison to how Danny Mac was at times.

I've always thought he called a great game in Atlanta when I heard him. Nobody will replace Danny Mac, but I think Chip will be pretty good. If not, I enjoy the radio guys too.

I don't mind the move at all. Skip has been around a long time and knows his stuff. It doesn't get more dull than Jim Edmonds announcing games and that is after improvement

Nobody will replace Danny Mac
We have had way better than Danny Mac....just depends on your time period. I am in my early 40s and liked Danny Mac a lot but definitely replaceable

moz needs a pitching staff to stay healthy. if not, were short on arms as usual. if that can happen and flaherty
can pitch like a #1, (a big if) we've got a \shot a winning the division and losing in the first playoff round. two
other things can change that, 1.Walker being a year or two ahead of schedule and giving us a .265/25 hr./75 rbi.
season and a late season trade deadline blockbuster bat.

Can anybody tell me why Dejong is still on the 40 man? other than maybe Moz doesn't want to
admit that bonehead draft and maybe they'd still have to pay him in his absence.

just trying to stir !!!! up.....

put brad thompson on a no caffiene diet and a shock collar that shocks him if he goes over a certain decibel level
might have to go back to listening to music and muting audio on ball game......

I liked Edmonds at first, but he has not done as much "pull back the curtain" analysis as he did in the past. Now he seems more pessimistic, like the joy is gone.

Totally agree on mccarver and hungo, although he did stop to give my son an autographed card when we saw him in the Redbird club, so I will always appreciate him for that. Just not so much for his analysis.

Edmonds is infatuated with his own voice and a friend of mine , a fellow Cardinals fan , coined Edmonds as Mr. Buttinsky for his continually butting in to tell a joke or some other nonsense.....

Al Hrobosky and Andrea Mitchell would have a close race as to who mumbles the most and speaks with the most pauses in a sentence...............

I post on a Cardinals forum inside the STLToday website and when word got out aboot Danny Mac the consensus was please can edmonds also......he is not liked by the stl community fans at all...............................

I live in the St Louis area and that is accurate. We appreciate him as a player and his time with the Cardinals. Calling games and studio work not so much

Chip largely got let go from the Cubs in 2004 for criticizing the team during the broadcasts.

That was a long time ago, he had snarky Steve Stone as his running buddy, and that was one of the least likable Cubs teams ever. But still, I wouldn’t call him a company man.
