Illinois 61, Wisconsin 51 Postgame

Ok..kind of off topic, but how many second weekend appearances will it take for Brad to become the best Illinois coach of all-time?

What he inherited was a complete dumpster fire. Took 2.5 years of losing and now we are the BEST program in the Big Ten. It’s not even close. Culture. Recruiting. Wins. Roster turnover and still winning. This will be 4 straight tournaments and (likely) winning seasons in Big Ten play… serious responses only.

Epps has certainly taken his starting spot, but I think his defense just isn’t as effective against savvy, veteran BIG guards. But he needs those minutes and that experience this year to be a true stopper in the future. Just need him (and Ty) to get much better at shooting.
I think Epps absolutely adds an offensive spark that we need right now whereas Harris absolutely showed out on defense in a stretch where we really needed to embrace that attitude. Both guys are going to continue to contribute big time this year, I have no doubt.

at no point in this mindless rambling did you address my point. Like a lot of people on this forum I suggest you touch grass. Have. Good weekend
I am sorry to have offended you, oh wise one. This forum is much like society in general. Some see nothing but positives, some see nothing but negatives, while others see both bad and good in an attempt to have realistic expectations. My time as an Illini fan is entering the second half; it would be wonderful to witness the validation of one of the "elite" programs the sport has produced, and all of the great players and fans this program has been blessed to have. My point is that after the Mizzou game we were no closer to that goal than we were 5 years before. I hope that isn't too mindless, nor rambling.

May I suggest you read post #122 in the Bracketology thread. The wonderfully eloquent Roundball Sage says what I am trying to say much better than I ever could. It may give you some insight into the other side of the fandom coin. In the meantime, I will try to "touch grass." Peace.

Florida man... IMHO you deserve a lifetime membership in the official Illinois SIFC.

Well Done!

I would say top 2 Purdue and Illinois

Great win, I don’t want to hear any excuses from Wisky, but.. but … but..
we are 7-1 in our last 8?
most BIG road wins in the last 3 seasons, right?
PUke may be first in the standings, but I am not so sure they are the BEST team.
At this point, I believe Purdue is the best team in the Big Ten. Come March 5th, I hope I am proven wrong. I wouldn't be surprised if the Illini went further in the tournament then Purdue--it's all about matchups and if the potential gels at the right time.

So, neither of Michigan State’s eight game winning streaks over Wisconsin came with a three game winning streak at the Kohl Center.

The 1999-01 streak started after a 1999 loss at Kohl followed by a win at the Breslin and a BTT win.

In 2000, Sparty beat the Badgers four times — Kohl, Breslin, BTT and Final Four.

In 2001, Sparty won at both Kohl and Breslin.

In 2002, the teams only played once, with Bucky beating Sparty in East Lansing.

In 2003, the teams played only once, within Bucky winning at the Kohl.

So… preliminary research indicates that Illinois may be the only team to have won three times in a row at the Kohl Center.

I think u might be right. I have seen some good defenses that stifle PU to the point if their shooters are off (and we know that is always in play) they are vulnerable

WHOAAA! Pump the breaks! I love BU's coaching style, personality, etc. There are many aspects that have to be considered before making a statemetn like that. Even though it was time for Henson to retire. When rational evaluation of history, events, and relativity, it will be a long time before Henson is not the greatest coach in Illinois history.

I guess you're professing to have some special insight. If you truly said the Mizzou game set us back five years that's fairly absurd.

I suppose I'm a bit like you, seeing negatives and positives. Unlike you , I hadn't bought into all the hype so I was pretty well prepared mentally for what we've seen.
