its very , very difficult for any program to go thru the 12 game season with just one loss, especially with the 9 game schedule in the B1G.
Pretty rare air for programs not named Ohio State or Michigan

Gotta win that Kansas game. Sweeping non-conference is the bellwether. Go 2-1 and things could be challenging to make a bowl. Go 3-0, Big Ten West contention is possible.

Based on Connelly's returning production article, '23 Kansas is likely to be better than last year.

Quite possible Tank is Bret's best hire.
Fletch was JG’s best. I read an article a little while ago about the importance of the s+c role because the amount of time they get with the players in the offseason is so significant that it’s become the most important hire for a lot of HCs. Seems like a “duh” statement but there’s much more to it.

The ability to relate to the players, be competent, a motivator, and use new technology in the space makes it a pretty unique job in terms of skill set.

Plus, just in general, exercise science seems to change fairly quickly. Not long ago, something as basic as going all the way down on squats was considered detrimental in some spaces, and is now pretty much considered the best way. So keeping up with the research and literature in the space is quite a big deal too.

I have no idea what this tweet is getting at. Are/were people saying that NIL would ruin college athletics because players will get “in trouble” or that NIL and NIL events keeps them out of trouble? Or that college players only with NIL are enjoying being kids on a bus? Not the criticisms of NIL I’ve ever seen. I mean maybe some have said NIL would make college athletics a business for the players and rob them of the fun and innocence of the game, but never really heard that either. It’s a great video and fun to see the players having fun, but other than it being a ride home from a NIL event, what does it have to do with it. Does he think the only reason the players are enjoying themselves is because they got paid?

I agree that all the doom and gloom about NIL destroying college sports is kind of silly. No doubt that it is altering the landscape and college athletics is changing, but I’ve never thought it would end college sports. Might ruin college sports for some individual fans and their passion for cheering on their teams, but that’s it. But not sure what Robert is trying to say with commentary along with the video.

I think , quite simply, is he is just showing what a great event it was overall .
An opportunity for 10 players to get together for a Saturday at a fan event in Chicago, make a little legitimate "appearance" money, and show that not all NIL money needs to be talked about in "evil" ways like the mega payments we are hearing about .

Kind of like there is good NIL and bad NIL , and this is an example of good NIL.

Most of us are happy a player can finally get a little bit of pocket money to live on and maybe even get a little ahead on. At the same time, many of us are concerned that there is major changes happening in D1 sports, mostly unregulated, and there will be unintended consequences that might not be good.

Yea. Kansas could very easily be an L. Anyone that counts on that one needs their head checked. That should be a really good game. Even if we start 2-2, I still think we win 7-8 games. Nine is not out of the realm of possibility. I love this schedule.

I guess. Just seems like a strange video to add on some NIL commentary. And I have no idea what he means about the “trouble.” Or the question mark about the athletes after a NIL event. No biggie and obviously he can tweet anything he wants. Just seemed very strange to me.

Be interested to know what gets people into more trouble, having more money or less money.

Gonna guess less money.

So excited about next season. Defense should be solid with all the returning players. Offense will be conservative ball control and no turnovers.

If we can improve special teams and new QB is at least average then I am saying 8-4 with bowl game. If new QB is great and we get some breaks maybe B10 championship game. Remember we don't play OSU or Michigan in 23.

We can post all the kumbya pictures of athletes doing something good for their nil, but the fact is, NIL is just play for pay and about 10 or so college teams are willing to spend whatever is necessary to buy the players they want. Everyone else gets to recruit the leftovers, some who will quite good in time. There is a reason that almost never does anyone outside of top ten get a 5 star player to sign.

That's what the schedule says.
But the attitude and motivation for this season should be that we WANT to play those guys this season. Doesn't matter which one.
