Assuming no transfer outs which is probably incorrect based on past 5 years and Coleman, MM, TSJ go NBA

2023/4 season
4 Guards : Jayden soph CG Sencir soph CG Nico freshman PG DGL freshman CG
2 SF RJ Jr Luke Jr
2 PF Ty Soph Amari Fr
2 C: Dain (soph) Brandon L (senior)

that is 10 scholarships. Brad will probably bring in 2 portals or late signing HS. I think we could use another good shooting SF from portal and a late bloomer C from HS. If somebody leave thru portal (I am most worried about RJ ) then you need to replace him as well.

Combination of extra Covid year seniors and transfers stunted Pods, RJ and Luke growth. I would like to see what RJ and Luke can do playing 25-30 minutes each.

I would not recommend chossing a job/company just by highest salary.

However if everything else was similar and one had higher pay that could be a good tie-breaker.

He needed summer school classes and Mark Adams/Texas Tech said you're off scholarship. If you want to go to summer school so you can leave, it's on your own dime.

I found it perfectly reasonable. Companies don't pay for their employees to take courses after they've announced they're leaving for a competitor.
Yeah, two major things happened, that made it work out for Illinois

1) Michigan wouldn't take more than 2 years of transfer credits, as a snobby "elite" academic institution, they don't want to dilute their "degree brand" by having people take most of their courseload elsewhere and then swooping in and getting a Michigan degree. This is pretty standard everywhere actually, but difference is Michigan lobbied their Admin who said "no" to any sort of waiver/exception, and our Admin said "sure, fine".

2) In light of not being able to graduate with only a year's worth of courseload, Shannon contemplated enrolling in summer school in order to graduate from Texas Tech, so that he could enroll in Michigan as a grad transfer, free of the transfer credit restriction. Texas Tech told him "you're leaving, so no, you can't be on scholarship and enrolled in our courses". This caused Michigan peeps including Hunter Dickinson on twitter to freak out about schools not doing right by the athletes by not letting them earn degrees, of course ignoring that TSJ himself chose to forfeit his scholarship by transferring.

Perhaps Texas Tech should have accommodated, but I'm inclined to believe a scholarship is a transactional relationship, if you are no longer providing the service as a member of the team, you aren't entitled to a scholarship anymore, and if you choose to remain enrolled, you have to pay your own way like every other student upon completion of the last semester of which you remained a member of the team (absent a separate agreement like a medical hardship). As we know, Mark Adams isn't exactly a great guy so who knows if he was motivated by pettiness or something else.

Either way, Illinois caught a break with how it all worked out and Terrence Shannon Jr. enrolled at the University of Illinois which was happy to accommodate his academic circumstances. I don't think it's "overly negative" to point this out. Sometimes coming in 2nd in recruiting comes to your benefit as Plan A doesn't always work out. We've been on both sides of this over the years.

I know you all are gonna laugh your a$$es off about this but since someone mentioned Hunter... What are the odds UM fires Howard and Hunter goes into the portal? Maybe we could borrow him for a season. Would be funny... I would take him.

Michigan isn’t firing Howard this year
If Dickinson leaves , he’s going pro
But If he were to transfer , it would be to a blue blood

how’s that ?
I agree completely.................I think the obvious thought is , who in the B$G would accept huntie baby to their squad .........That would be subtraction by addition.........I think he has pissed off almost everyone with that hole beneath his nose.....too much talk makes huntie a second round draft pick or better yet overseas............
huntie on a blue blood , my question is " Where's the Maize "........................................

As long as we take Mulcahy too, and check if Brad Davidson and Jordan Bohannon have any eligibility left.

Edit: And how did I forget Mady SusieQ. Gotta take him.

What would Nelson Jr’s status be? Looks like he’s a 4th year junior who “played” two at GW and played two at Delaware. Only 7 games that second year at GW which I’m guessing is being counted as a redshirt since he’s a junior. So is he a grad transfer with 2 years left? Senior year and Covid year?

One year left. He's used his 4 years of eligibility and still has the extra year for COVID. The 7 games was in a year he transferred after his minutes dwindled, not injury.
