He clearly doesn’t get along with Brad. I agree it’s a huge mistake to transfer from here given the opportunity but such is life these days with the portal.

Kind of reminds me of the Rocket Watts situation at MSU. I thought he was a solid player and fit into the Izzo mold perfectly but he clearly didn’t like Izzo. Transferred to Mississippi state and then transferred again once more.
I’m so glad you just compared this situation to Rocket Watts. When I saw Watts transfer, I found it to be extremely peculiar decision given his role on that MSU team. Hopefully, Epps realizes he should stay and that his path isn’t analogous to Watts.

My uneducated take is:

(1) Retain RJ
(2) Retain the freshmen
(3) Retain Dain

I guess I didn’t even think Shannon was an option, but if so - fantastic. I wonder if Shannon without Mayer is more productive; they both kind of fulfilled the same role and rarely if ever at the same time.

I think TSJ without Mayer would have played a lot more to our team strengths. Those two never seemed on the same page and I think it frustrated TSJ. TSJ coming back would be pretty huge in my opinion.

We will. Focus is on retaining guys now.

Ty, Sencire, Moretti, and Luke will all be back for sure.
I think Shannon comes back and Coleman stays in the draft (again needs to play out).
RJ will be back most likely, but need to have conversations.
Dain and Epps both will take conversations. Think 1/2 will be back but we will see.

Need to add a vet point, a couple of wing shooters, and a big. Staff will be acting quickly
I trust your insights. If TSJ RJ Goode Ty Sencire all come back. We will be good

I am not sure how good Moretti is but we need PG depth

I like Epps to be back. He will be a beast in three years

If Dain and Hawkins leave we will need to replace our front court

I would be pleasantly surprised if it plays out like this. i know one half of one game is an awfully small sample size, but when Ty, Sencire, Luke, RJ and Shannon were on the floor we looked pretty darn good

I would love to see TSJ come back and work on a stop and pop mid range jumper. I feel like he's either taking a three or lowering his head and driving left to try to draw contact. If he could stop and pop, he would be pretty tough to guard, even if they know he's going left. Also, obviously work on the right hand. 😁 Regardless, seems like a great kid and would love to have him back.

Is Epps leaving purely speculation? Seems weird that he beats out Skyy for playing time, Skyy leaves and now he is unhappy with how he was used?

What I want back: Ty, Sencire, Moretti, Luke, RJ. The rest I am not sold on for various reasons.

Does the staff expect Moretti to play big minutes next year? One thing I know is he is going to need to become best friends with Fletch this summer.

I’m really glad that family issue cleared up the second our season ended.

The Clark’s are a class group.

We’ve certainly had our share of transfers. Would say we are maybe a smidge above average. But generally speaking doesn’t seem like our transfers have a lot of success elsewhere.

Podz is the exception but still think the Covid Seniors played a big role in that. If Trent and DaMonte don’t come back good chance there’s a role on last years team and maybe he doesn’t transfer. But we won a share of the BIG so if that cost is Podz it hurts but I think it was worth it.

Of course TBD on Skyy plus whoever transfers this year but I’m still trusting the staff.

I've been complaining to anyone who will listen (not many) about TSJ not taking that shot more. I feel like he makes that shot most of the times when he takes it, which isn't very often.

Honestly though, why would a pg want to play in spread? It doesn't let them showcase the skills that the pros are looking for in primary ball handlers.
