This thread is coming for that #1 spot.

I think last offseason (or the one before idk) there was over 1,000 posts in a single day in a hoops recruiting thread.

Why has nobody brought up the potential fight over Fletch?

There is good quality hand wringing to be done here folks, not to mention the dread, has anyone even thought about the dread?

I gotta imagine JW would make him an offer he couldn't refuse.
My forever person will be pissed if Fletch leaves, almost as much as me but for mostly unrelated reasons.

Okay, I respect this is business … but this sours me. When Murray’s three missed and the crowd rushed the floor and we were Big Ten champs, Brad should have felt like he was in heaven here. Did a Second Round loss to a superior Houston team and an NCAA Tournament season after losing all five seasons seriously convince Brad he should just dip?

I’m not naive, but jeez. At this point, assuming some of the things here are true, I practically hope we get Miller and Underwood winds up at an objectively interior job, lol.

True, I can't argue with that, but I think it takes more than 1 year of first round flameouts to lose recruiting battles to Loyola.

Sure but it does give other coaches ammo to say "they aren't even the best program in your state; look how they lost to Loyola. You should come join us at Iowa."

Underwood is a great coach making top 8 money in all of of NCAAB (I think). As much as I love him as a coach if he looking for pay bumps after this year I think that a little out of line.

Well , if he does return to the Illini next year and facts get out about him sniffing elsewhere it might be interesting as to the applause he gets when he is announced

Echoing the others. I get the agent hunting to sweeten his cut, but I gotta think it's Underwood who can tell him to call off the search. If he doesn't want to rock the boat, he can tell his agent to back off a bit.

He's gotta consider whether potentially finishing out his career here at the level of a Lou Henson is worth more to him than a bump somewhere else that'll turn on him cold and mercilessly in a month. If he thought Maryland was nuts for running a coach off, I really think he'll learn to hate Texas or a blueblood quick.
He's one of us, not of them, and he doesn't have any attachment to their programs in a publicity capacity.
I hope he'll fire his agent and quit worrying about it for awhile. He's got a pretty great gig, great pay, a fanbase that's putting plenty of cash into our NIL game, and great staff down the line up and down. I can why his agent would pursue it initially but now that it's public, this is just dumb to not back out off just as publicly. That'd be best for everybody but the agent but .
