A couple of observations here…

1. Is it wrong if I only want a read Post from 4040, lville, or DB and skip all other posts?? 😁😁

2. I have inferred from reading this thread and the Illinois basketball thread that BU will be back next year. I say that because, It seems like from posts from our insiders we may already have a transfer coming in for next year. Normally that doesn't happen unless the coach is going to stick around.......

With whatever happens I can continually say that Loyalty is never boring
Well it depends if you are looking for Illinois basketball content or social media content. This is my social media. I don’t do Facebook or twatter because it is either too negative or mindlessly irrelevant. I much prefer this negativity and irrelevant banter because it’s directly tied to something I care about. 😀

someday in the near future , a coach will get a new job and 3 or more guys might go with him .

Yeah his name is Deion Sanders

You’re right in general, though there is the counter factor of NIL deals being with team-specific boosters so there is some transaction friction in that sense.

yea , I was referring to hoops when over half the starting lineup could come with a coach

no precedent for it at prep , college or pro level

Three of Fairleigh Dickinson’s starters, their three top scorers against Purdue, were transfers from their first year head coach’s prior job at D2 St Thomas Aquinas.

There’s always a precedent ;)

The question of how many players come with a coaching candidate will increasingly become a thing though, you’re right.

Henson 21 years
Kruger 4 years
Self 3 years
Weber 9 years
Groce 5 years
Avg 8.4
That UW would leave for "greener" pastures is not exactly unprecedented, particularly to a school where he has emotional connectons.
His pasture is pretty green right where he is at :)

I suppose it depends what "greener pastures" means. Only two of those on this list actually left for what they considered a better job, and those jobs were an NBA gig and Kansas. The rumored jobs BU was/is open to leaving for are not on that level.

The carousel won't start to spin, maybe, until Texas names a coach. If it is Rodney Terry, there will be minimal spinning. Some insiders think Terry will get the job, others say no. I'm personally on the side of no way I'd hire Terry if I were Texas. He has a 10 year record as a head coach, 7 were mediocre at Fresno State, 3 at UTEP were not good. If Beard were fired in the offseason and Terry had to step in for the full year, that would be one thing, but Beard put this team together. He trained them in the offseason, and he coached them for the first 1/3 of the season. Terry has done a phenomenal job since then, but this is a very experienced and talented team. If you hire Terry and find out he's the coach he has been over those 10 years, then you set your team back and made your next hire more difficult.

So as Texas comes down to the wire two things could happen. They could say well the fans are happy, we can take the easy route and save some money by going with Terry, or they could say I'm gonna throw stupid money at Calipari, Oats, Musselman, Tang, etc. However, barring a Self retirement for health reasons, the Texas hiring will determine how much the carousel spins.

One thing to keep in mind. Tang is not going to be at Kansas State long. When you really look into what he did, it was one of the more impressive coaching jobs I've seen. First year with the team, 4 starters are transfers new to the team. He was able to win 26 games, get KSU ranked as high as #5, and make an Elite 8 right out of the gates. In Weber's last 3 years combined at KSU he only won 34 games. So Tang identified and assembled a team, got them to gel, coached them up, and had a huge turnaround season. Assuming he doesn't fall off the cliff next year, if he doesn't leave KSU this season, it won't be long. Meaning we are going to be having these conversations year after year about Underwood.

Ah yes, a coach taking a massive jump up based on one tournament run, famously a good idea.

May’s been at FAU for awhile too, where on earth did this come from?
He’s now won 101 games in 5 years. So that means 66 in 4 years before this(I think they’re 35-3 now)? I can’t pretend to know their roster situation and how many are transfers or his dudes from the start, but maybe he actually built the program and this is the payoff year.

Overall, for a smaller school, his team is not untalented. They have real athletes, enough handling and shooting for multiple guys outside to be dangerous, and 7 footer who is somehow both equally clumsy and a pretty decent high-low post and perimeter facilitator.

From a basketball perspective, they also appear to cut FAST and move the ball FAST so they have multiple threats working at once.

The caveat will be that maybe the refs jobbed Memphis in round 1, and they played a 16 in round 2. And matchups matter, but Kansas st is objectively better than any other team they could have matched up with so far. Sometimes it’s as simple as, it all comes together at the right time.

Fuggles was kind enough to provide a rough location. I think they would get sticker shock if they tried to move back. I searched redfin for 1700sqft+ house on a 6500sqft+ lot** in a 2 mile radius. (My initial search requiring a 8000sqft lot found only one match.***) The houses found are running 1.4M-1.6M. Redfin says the mortgage is 9-10k/month assuming 20% down and good credit. (108k-120k/year). Nope, can't retire young there with only 2.5M. It isn't close.

** 6220sqft is 1/7th an acre

*** The one larger house/lot was a mile away in a neighborhood called "The Woods". It was a 4500sqft house on a .75 acre lot for only 2M (400k down, 13k/month mortgage). Not bad. Not bad at all.
I was talking rent not buying. No sticker shock from me. I lived in San Jose for 25 years.

btw if you look on zillow you will find plenty of houses for rent for less than $3000/month still even after the crazy runup in prices. Which is what I said in the OP. Anyway, depends how you want to spend your money. I wouldn't buy in the valley at these prices. I retired and moved to a cheaper location. $2.5M would buy alot in another area.

They went 31-3 and were top 20 in kenpom and top 15 in NET. Would hardly be based on just the tournament run.
