Hawk is saying:
* Will try the NBA
* If not then the Illini
* And, if not (proper team around him at IL), will try the portal
I didn't see that in his comments, maybe in this translation?

तथा, यदि न (IL इत्यत्र तस्य परितः समुचितं दलं), पोर्टलस्य प्रयासं करिष्यति

Their scholarship runs until the end of the semester, so they can finish their current coursework.
I get that, but if you are a basketball player, aren’t you going to want to work out, play pick up, just hang out, go out to the bars with what are now your former teammates. And in some basketball crazy schools, I’m assuming some jagbag at the bar is like “Hey Mr. Portal, aren’t you on to your new place yet,”

I mean living life would have to be incredibly hard for these kids. Did Curbelo finish the semester and hoop with the guys in facilities that he was abandoning? And I know they remain friends with their teammates even if they are leaving…you just have to look at some IG likes to figure that out. It’s just an interesting dynamic I’m curious about.

One would think this would shut up the keyboard warriors pounding their keys about Underwood's supposed anger issues. But ... probably not.

We will probably hear about it the whole offseason. :ROFLMAO:

So -- 2022 -- 1300 players... under 400 teams (I know, some might be going from D2 to D1 -- only around 360 teams so rounded up) -- average of 3.25 per team and someone thinks a school isn't going to have transfers? I think you would be very hard pressed to find 3 P5 schools that didn't have a transfer (money line is more had 2 or more than 1 or none -- any takers?)

It’s 6 years later. Whatever the program looked like 6 years ago is irrelevant. The year that Groce got fired:

Groce’s 5th year. 18-14 (8-10)
Underwood’s 6th year: 20-13 (11-9)

Not that much different. Underwood’s issues is his record without Kofi, and the yearly attrition of key players that will prevent this team from getting to the next level.

Most fans aren’t happy with this level. Better than Groce isn’t enough. Not 6 years into a regime.

Just my opinion

Let's focus on more recent seasons then. Where would you rank Undewood's results vs all other Big 10 coaches over the last four years? Or just the last three years? Or even the last two?

We all know the answers. We just want to hear you say it.

the staff cant really wait around until Hawk makes his final decision about next year
there is a distinct possibility he decides to play one more year and he doesnt like the make up of the team at that point and moves
but I expect him to either go pro or play for us, but its not a given that its one of those two

I went to the Big Ten tournament at Madison Square Garden a few years ago. That was BU's first season and not a very good team. His sideline actions regarding HIS team's play was terrible. He would often look totally exasperated turning to the crowd, stop coaching all together and act like he did not want to be there or a part of HIS team. It was embarrassing to watch and sent up warning signals to me. The team did not play well but not to the point it surprised me or that I was embarrassed or wished i hadn't spent the money to attend (pretty sure BU was getting paid well to be there). As an aside Izzo was a whiny a$$ throughout his game as well.

Like I said I’m all for tough love and I think the kids these days are too soft but it was unacceptable in my view. Maybe coaching involves calling kids these names and berating them like that and Underwood doesn’t want players who can’t handle that. Who knows.
Simple solution for a group of posters... don't like our coach's style. Stop watching our games. The beloved will be fine. And the NIL $$$ will not dry up with BU at the helm.

You've described around 75% of all coaches. Congratulations.

That's is awesome I thought Coaches head was gonna pop. All these men know who coach is. Don't accept scholarships. Dan Hurley and many others are 🔥 coaches. I am loyal to the University of Illinois, the name and school. I sure miss bigman Kofi. That smile and joy were awesome. Go Illini! Get me 2 pt guards and a back up for Dainja zone and the 4 spot.
