it’s one thing when you are Isaiah Williams and EVERYONE in college ball at every program has been suggesting you try being a WR instead of QB. But I highly doubt Leary or Swanson or anyone else in our QB room is going to embrace a position change .

They will simply transfer out to a program that will give them a better chance at playing .
That is probably true but if ego moves aside for a bit one has to see that not making it at Illinois as a QB is a pretty good sign that you are in this sport for the scholarship/NIL money and a great degree from somewhere or to learn how to coach the game as a profession. I know most will decide to transfer rather than stay. That is how it seems to be played out in practice.

Most mid to low 3 star QBs will struggle to get offers anywhere but lower levels of football. Sucks but that's just how the cookie crumbles in the current era.

With the massive B1G media deal plus NIL money and name recognition, there will definitely be a lot of talented 4 to 5 star QB recruits who want to play even if it means at a school they didn't originally commit to.

Coaches still have to be able to identify who should see the field, and develop players. Without a pre-season, sometimes you have to make big decisions just based on what you see at practice. Spring ball is more important than ever.

Interesting data point that Bullen is making the same as Jamison after his promotion to co-DC.

I thought that read was fabulous. The kind of stuff you get to be around when you are with the program. I really enjoyed all of it.
Lots of great blasts from the past (I was at that brutal @UCLA game - the second 6-3 loss to the Bruins in 12 years, Duke Tobin Arlington Hizzeights, and I guess I didn't know Daniel Dufresne passed away).

I'm really looking forward to watching Feagin (sp?) play this fall. Can his dominant game translate successfully from small school competition to Big 10?

If I remember correctly, I heard that our facility actually has more amenities? But of course Northwestern has the Lake Michigan wow factor, which clearly has a big impact.
One of my pet theories is that Northwestern's facility is designed to the aesthetic preferences of a 50 year old Northwestern donor and not a 17 year old football recruit and is therefore not actually that effective.

They have austere, dignified views of Lake Michigan. We have glow in the dark bowling.

All is not well in Evanston- from WSJ

Residents in the tree-lined neighborhood are exercised about a plan to replace the 47,000-seat Ryan Field stadium, which opened in 1926.

For decades, the concrete colossus has hosted six or seven football games a year and little else. No alcohol is served inside the stadium. But if Northwestern has its way, the field’s replacement will accommodate those home games as well as women’s lacrosse matches, 10 stadium concerts and an unlimited number of events of up to 10,000 people on the plaza around the stadium. Alcohol will be on the menu.

“You’ll have people spilling out of concerts drunk at 10:30, 11 o’clock, walking around your neighborhood. There will be crimes of opportunity,” said John Sorensen, who lives across the street from Ryan Field. “We’re usually asleep by then.”
