San Diego State does not belong in this game. No idea how they got here, but this is where upsets are awesome in the first weekend, but when it comes title time, I want to see the best teams out there.

I’m amazed that SDSUs gritty defensive style got them to the title game, but at some point you gotta score the ball. Offense wins championships.

UCONN is proof positive that traditional does still win in the college game. With all due respect to the coaches who feel that running 4 guards out there to play "positionless" basketball is the way to go....I'll take two bigs and long wings that can shoot the ball and get to the basket all day long. The pure intimidation of UCONN has had other teams seeing ghosts in the paint. Very impressive.

Traditional works when you got at least 3 future first round NBA picks like UConn does. If talent level is equal I’d go with small ball every time at the college level.

Well Kansas, Alabama, Houston, Purdue, Texas, UCLA, Arizona, Baylor, Kansas State were all better IMO
I thought the best team was Alabama, but SDSU took care of them.

Purdue and Arizona...well, we can leave their losses in the historical archives.

Houston and Kansas couldn't get past game 2.

The only team that you mentioned that had a chance in heck of beating these guys was Texas with a healthy Disu. However, Miami beat Texas, which in turn got destroyed by UCONN.

UConn was unranked in the preseason top 25. I wonder when the last time an unranked preseason team won the title? Even San Diego State was ranked 19th

SDSU gave them a good game. They don’t have anything to feel down about. They absolutely maximized their talent, took out a great team in Alabama, and will have plenty of recruiting moxie with a FF and heading into the Pac 12

Agree 100%. They squeezed every last drop out of their season. There's a ton of heart there. Good show in the second half.

This UConn team may not be the most awesome collection of talent to win a National Championship but they are tough and relentless. SDSU has ground down other really good teams in this tournament but UConn is just as precisely dialed in and bigger, more athletic.

This tournament was absolutely about coaching, warts and all. Not taking anything away from the individual players, but at the end it was two guys who really seem to excel as program guys as opposed to the mega recruiters out there.
I think that's fairly interesting in light of the NIL era we're just starting. Not moralizing one way or the other, it's just an interesting data point now.
