IMHO the trainer needs to be sure that they can understand and carry out his commands without confusion. Otherwise they are just a pack of dogs making noise, but not actually herding the cattle into the pen.

I'd have preferred a big 5 that was a compliment to Dain. if Coleman comes back, we have good 4 depth with him, Ty, and Hansberry. If Coleman doesn't return, it's a good insurance pickup.

I hear a lot about CH on here and him not liking the chemistry issues and wanting a PG. I want both CH and a PG too. I also want to see CH make a free throw when it matters and find the confidence to consistently make a dagger 3. If he can’t get by anyone in college, he has to be a plus 3 point shooter in the NBA. CH is a good/great defender but I don’t see his offense translating yet to the NBA. He is NOT ready but god bless him if he decides to go. He’s an Illini forever and I’ll root for him either way.

Now - he will be the first one to tell you he was ticked with guys on the roster last year … It didn’t work … He said I want to see change … I want guys who know their role and know what they’re supposed to do and be in the offense … I want to play with older guys and a PG who has some experience … So Brad said okay and you see what he’s done … Coleman is not upset with Brad … They talk very frequently …
