This conversation is so ridiculously dumb. Literally said his game is a POOR MAN’s DWill. Was simply contrasting that to the Curbelo comp. Gee whiz!!! This board is glorious.
I wasn't criticizing you, Coach. I compare guys to former Illinois players all the time because that's who I'm most familiar with.

I would love just seeing a team with a clear sense that everyone on the floor knows the play, understands their roles, and is willing to do them. Not sure RayJ can solve all of that, but being decisive, a clear leader, and possessing the ability to read the defense and his teammates to deliver a pass on time and on location would be glorious. I'm not sure if it's an indictment of the players or the coaches, but last year was infuriating with how lost we looked, even at the end of the season. The players were clearly frustrated, and I'm sure the coaches were. If EVERYONE was frustrated with it, why did it continue? I know that identifying a problem is not the same as solving it, but it should at least lead to trying something else.

How quickly the new PG -- let's call him Ray -- learns and connects with the team, and gains their trust that they should follow his lead, will mean everything.
well stated. Have said many times - if everyone was frustrated why was it allowed to continue. 22/23 potential vs actual results will live on for a long time.

Gotcha…my bad. Having seen RayJ many times here in Toledo, I was just trying to give people a better idea of style of play vs AC. And it just got off the rails.

Should we be worried about Indiana and RayJ? @Indy Illini Fan @LvilleILL @sharpshot16 @DB11Headband
Several of them already said yesterday there's very little to worry about with *any* other team -- but if you're asking about Indiana in particular, I don't need to be an insider to tell you that Dennis would not be interested in joining a team that is returning a sixth-year point guard.

XJ got a medical waiver yesterday so they have their PG for next season.
Got it, I didn’t realize he got a waiver. Thanks

Still say the best comp I’ve ever heard from CH is a modern version of Joakim Noah. Plays with energy/edge, offensive rebounds, can play make (Bulls ran Joakim as point center for a while when Rose and other PGS were hurt), but CH is more defensively versatile and theoretically can stretch the floor.

All of which is to say I think we can unlock several additional levels of Coleman with a plus PG.
Great comparison. Offensively, I'd have to call him a poor man's JN based upon the evidence thus far presented.

Hoping Hawkins can also manage to match Joakim's back-to-back Natty's at his original/only college program.

Before he answers that, I'm very confident that Loyalty can disect the hidden meanings in O440's use of Spongebob, and in particular the setting of thinking while having a warm beverage in the Crabby Patty as an allegory for something meaningful.

I was thinking more Deron Williams 😁

I do like our backcourt mix of skills- Harris, DGL, Harmon and RayJ all bring something different to the table - we have shooters, playmakers, defenders and penetrators Brad can mix and match
In fairness I compared him to DWill as well, tongue in cheek, but thought his style of play was more like DWill than Curbelo - which is the whole point of comps - comparing a new guy that nobody knows to someone everyone knows to give people a sense for the style of play

It’s going to be a long and lonely wait until Sunday for the insiders.

I see what Pru means by the Dear Abbey questions, myself included.

Username checks out. 😂

I think the problem with the analysis is simply extrapolating similar results for someone with similar size and stats regardless of the fact there are so many different variables involved, from quality of opponents, differences in teams around them, and differences in immeasurables such as attitude, system fit, and whether each player has come close to hitting their hypothetical ceiling in abilities and skill development. It's impossible to account for so many different variables, so cutting and pasting same differences in stats based on "x player did this at low major and then x at high major", is simplistic at best, and foolish at worst.
Fair points, it just seems like we so commonly extrapolate more with less data, I'm not sure why there was such discontent for someone attempting to make a projection in a methodical way

Oh well, back to pizza and burger talk, and seeing where sacraig goes next with this Ben Affleck comparison...
