Don’t know where to put this but wondering how this might change Morez commitment with the change in coach.
St Laurence? lol. Doesnt make any sense. Its not often that I see coaches leave their alma matter, unless its for a higher profile job/promotion/pay raise something. This is the second year in a row in the Catholic league. Smells fishy. I dont know what is going on over there. Russell. Brown, Bell, and Reyna last year. Luckily/Hopefully Morez is linked to Tim and Meanstreets.

Somebody used the word "slander" in connection with posts on Ty. That's way over the top. I like him and he has many skills. He plays consistently hard on defense and he's a plus rebounder. I'm glad we've got him. But he can't shoot, and anybody with eyes knows it. And it's highly unlikely he'll develop a jump shot now. Players don't start learning that at age 20. So there's a hole in his game, but that's not "slander."

I don't see much slander here. Most (myself included) are just saying that he's not likely to be our backup PG. He's a very promising player, and we all love his intensity, but he's not a PG.

PG is the most important position on the floor. You need to have the right guy there. Rodgers strengths are rebounding, defense, and interior scoring. He's not a good outside shooter and he's a downright bad FT shooter. While it's possible he develops his perimeter skills, a coach would be crazy to rely on him as a PG option in the near future.
Ty will back up DGL at the point.

John Scheyer said a long time ago. Why go to Illinois to compete for BIG championships if I can go somewhere to compete for national championships. Well he was right apparently. When is our fanbase going hold our program to higher standards? We act like we are a blue blood, but defend our program that can't get to a sweet 16. Programs across the country have turned nothing into something. We have turned something into average. If we can't be thick skinned enough to hold our leaders to higher standards, then we need to root for Northwestern.
Not sure what you mean by this. What exactly are you proposing we fans do?

What I saw from Ty is if a guy sags off him, he jumps right in there and sticks his booty on him. Couple fakes, spins, etc and ends up with a high percentage layup.

I assume he will be working on his jumpshot all off season.
Shooting can be improved if we have a guru on staff who can teach form, and his FT's actually got better later in year.
That said- yes it was an issue this past year.
He really is a nice backup but not a starter minutes guy unless he develops a shot.

Surprising how a Small Forward/Wing was ranked #59 nationally with such limited range TBH..
I can see a post guy with great size, athleicism, and rebounding, D ability still being so high with no range, but kind of surprising for a SF.

Ty Rodgers with a jump shot would be a 1st round pick this year. He's that good at everything else.

I would be surprised if Ty is one of our top five scorers next year. We don't need him to be a scorer. Just let him do what he does and be grateful for it. Because he's really good at it.

Moreover, just be grateful that he's running it back with us next year. That's a rarity in itself.

Think of the shooting development of Warren Carter and Leron Black during their time at Illinois. By the end they were almost automatic from midrange. They didn’t walk into college that way.
