Wow, someone is going to have to justify recruiting over and telling Brandon Podziemke. There was no role, place for you son. Probably best if you move on. I was surprised at his 19 pts. 6 reb. ,4 assist, and 2 steals per game. While shooting high percentages and oh by the way making free throws. Man played Gonzaga, BYU, DePaul, and multiple high level teams and showed out! What a miss by our staff!

lol come on man
I feel you, I was basing my thought process on what they have for their football men. Being there for a few years, they love their basketball. If you don't have to spread your top dollars around to 8 men vs. 2 or 3. It will be substantial. I hope you are correct. My son took all his football visits for the reason you mentioned.

Just a negotiation tactic right now. Trying to see how much he can get from us in NIL.

We will end up matching any offer. Don't be scared.

TSJ & Hawk though....We have some backup options already lined up but all would be downgrades (TSJ would be in the conversations of All American and BIG-10 POY if Edey leaves)

If both leave, we will still be a tourney team but National guys would have us outside the top 25 and middle of the pack BIG-10.

TSJ is the most important domino to fall this entire offseason. He loves school and wants to come back...but you can't pass up a 2-mil, 2 year deal like Ayo got if he is projected low 30s and someone gives him a guarantee. Hawk really wants to go pro and live his dream. Strange since he has the most to gain by coming back... Some are saying it's leveraging NIL/Coleman doing Coleman things. The same thing happened last year with his portal talks (and it got him more money)
I sincerely hope in my Illini orange goggle glasses. CoHawk, TSjr., and Ray Dennis are here this summer. Getting ready to chase a Big10 title and greatness! If our men decide to roll the dice and chase their dreams at next level. I will cheer for them at all times. Mr. Dennis decides to go elsewhere, God's speed sir. I will simply get on my knees and pray for a point guard that can get our offense humming! 🙏

Can you imagine if it got out the top-30 Skyy Clark wanted to come to Illinois, but Brad said we don’t have a place for him because 3-minutes-per-game Podz has great potential? Pitchforks everywhere. It was a miss, but a justifiable miss that looks 100 times worse in hindsight.

When Podz left, who did we bring in, based on their resume up to that point, that was a worse player than Podz?

I Respect your opinion but the fact is every kid that has attended 6 schools end up not staying with the program. It's been proven over and over again. Podz, chose us over Wisconsin. It was his only school. He had spent his entire career at a small school. Sky with the 6 schools in his high school career. Just like DGL has that's my only concern about that young man? So I don't want to hear it anymore. We should not have given up on him. Skyy and others, who have went to 6 schools over 4 years and high school. They have no loyalty their parents are involved their handlers. Are involved you need to think about that? Podz, was a Keeper!

First, I don't think it really was a podz or Skyy decision.

But more importantly, don't start down the "what will fans accept " path. Weber pulled that crap. A coach's job is to use his best judgment not listen to the ill-informed views of fans.

44. San Antonio Spurs (via Raptors): Terrence Shannon Jr. (Illinois, SG/SF, Senior)
Improved shot-making turned Shannon into a more realistic three-and-D option, while the slashing and playmaking flashes suggest he'll have some margin for error with his shooting consistency.

48. Los Angeles Clippers: Coleman Hawkins (Illinois, PF, Junior)
Hawkins' projected archetype and NBA fit are the draws, with teams more interested in his mix of shooting, passing and defensive potential than his scoring ability.

But that doesn’t answer the question.
So a young man who got recruited by coach. He was from A2A school in Wisconsin. He cheered on the bench and by all accounts was an amazing teammate. And he transferred. And after one year hes in an NBA combine. What are all your points, he got passed over as a Illini! and that's what my point was in my post. That's it. I hope he freaking gets drafted if he doesn't goes back to school and has another awesome year! he should be a Illini, right now!

I mentioned it earlier, I have no faith in High School ballers who have been at 5+ programs in their 4 years of High School.

Don’t think Wisconsin offered him out of HS or in the portal.

Utah is a nice school, but they don't have anywhere near the amount of fan support or NIL money for basketball that we do
