There's boom material here if the kid gets Fletched-up, he'll be ready as the next PG by 2028.

I’ll just say this … Missing on RayJ and not landing a Yuri type player as a plan B … The seat would be quite warm …

We’re investing a crap ton of money and have had ZERO post season success … There’s no way around that …

If you’re a top 10 paid coach … You better find the 2nd weekend more often than 0/6 …

Sean Miller took a group of guys that Travis Steele couldn’t make the tournament with in 4 years … Added a kid from UTEP and went to the 2nd weekend …

Brad has had plenty of time … He’s got a ton of money to recruit with … It’s time to see post season results in many boosters eyes and Josh’s eyes …
I'm late to the party, but in your opinion, has this urgency and pressure to be successful in the post season influenced the way Brad builds his roster? Ie focusing more on staying old in the portal versus developing a young roster (that may experience growing pains).

I like BU but I also agree that post season success is a requirement at Illinois, so I hope he can make it work. Gotta stabilize the pg spot, IMO. Most signs point to us being in this same spot again next year.

Missed the edit window - Dennis played two seasons at Boise St. Utah makes more sense with that knowledge. Its a move up within the Western footprint.

Maybe he wants to be further away from home. Utah is very nice. Skiing. The LDS morality rules issue wouldn’t really matter at Utah; thats BYU’s thing.

He wouldn’t be the first midwesterner that got a look at Western mountains and got seduced into wanting out. Happens to the best of us sometimes.
I suspect that his highest priority is finding the best place he possibly can that will position himself best to get drafted by the NBA as high as possible. A nice mountain view for one year seems unimportant compared to that.

IMO, our starting pg for the 2024 team probably isn't on the roster. And that won't change regardless of who we pick up in the portal this year.

DGL or Moretti may surprise some people. I'm not writing them off. They both intrigue me for different reasons. But I also think it's fair to say they are both question marks currently, for different reasons. So if my choices are them or the field, I would put my money on the field.

The broader point though is that since Ayo left, we've been playing musical chairs at pg and unless we can develop and retain one of the freshman, that isn't going to change anytime soon.

The very first PG I said, it would be awesome if we get this guy, and it would make sense that he leaves was Yuri Collins. Then when the rumor was Tyger Campbell my thought was, that's stupid, I don't believe you, why in the world would he leave? But if true, I'd put Tyger over Yuri. When RayJ was floated out there, I honestly wasn't thrilled. I've since come around, but if I were ranking the 3, I'd say:
Tyger
Yuri
RayJ

That said, I'd be thrilled with any of the 3. If it is none of the above, then I'm starting to get real concerned about next season real fast. Unless there is someone else not currently in the portal, the pickings are getting pretty slim.
