And you blame them for dragging this out when end equates to big $$$. Its business and its likely he will make more here than elsewhere. I wished Kofi the best but what do you think he could have made last year and this upcoming season? Hawk and Ray J are only trying to get the most $$ they can. Do you blame them? I dont.
That's one way to look at it. But if you've been an office where this type of stuff went on you'd understand that at some point people are hoping for some loyalty as well.

How about just shutting it. If you don’t want Indy’s opinions delete him. He doesn’t need you to be his critic good lord
I'm pretty sure he/she was just responding to a joke with another joke...

I love it, play for your home. I am no fan of these kids all leaving home and playing for these super teams. It is far more fun watching the state tournament when the teams are led by those 5 star studs. Can a team of kids going to JUCO at best, take out the D1 guy. That's largely been gone for quite a while.

I have been as has my father who never applied for a job but when nominated numerous times U of I always paid him more. I didn't leave to be near my grandkids. However, businesses are about money! If you generate a good ratio then you should be paid! When you write grants that get funded or bring in big bucks and in athletics it does not bother me if some young men get paid instead of executives and coaches.

On a different note… I know football will be displaying new threads for this upcoming season. Supposed to be a pretty big shift.

When can we expected some new unis from the basketball team? I’d love to see the old school white & navy “Fighting Illini” jerseys come back just like how they use the orange ones.

I'm not talking about pay scales.

I'm talking about constant negotiating over money. The OP said he didn't mind the dragged out negotiations because it's a business. Everyone's got their own limit to what, but I think there's value to loyalty at some point.

These young men are loyal to the illini but they are more loyal to themselves, this limited opportunity and their families.

This nights going to end with the Illini going 0-3 at the plate isn’t it?
That is what I am expecting so I will not be disappointed. Set your goals low enough and you will always exceed them. /s

These three guys were hoping to get will probably make more money this year playing ball then they will ever make playing ball. That is if they stay or go to Illini. I don't see any of them making a NBA roster.

You realize these players have an extremely finite amount of time to make this money, right? If every employee had that same time frame, you better believe there would be constant negotiations over money. It's an apples-and-oranges situation.

This feels like I'm watching a triple OT game. If you win it was totally worth the time you invested watching it, but if you lose you think why did I waste my time.

Yep. This right here is the biggest concern. Especially following the Skyy debacle.
I mean... He is from IL, we had connections and a lot to offer, program and NIL-wise. Highest rated PG in the portal. I'm ok with going for it.
