If we can snag Trey Woodbury, that'd be a big win all things considered. I'll still say though that I do not like the idea of Creaning whatsoever and I am not comfortable with us basically pulling a scholarship from someone/forcing them out the door even if it does fill the hole at starting PG. I think there's a line that if you cross you start losing legitimacy and trust as a coach and program and that's one of those lines for me. It might win you a one year battle but it tends to lead to multiple years of losses.
Fears hasn’t played a single minute in college. Hindsight is fun. Also, we needed Skyy last year, tell me how Fears helps this team last year.
I can assure you I was. You’re also assuming Fears is going to be some super productive freshman at MSU next season.

What does any of that have to do with someone's ability to re-cover quickly?
With the way college basketball is going, adding anyone for "stability" or for the "long-term" is kinda suspect. I don't really get the addition of Williams because it now complicates things to where someone has to be "creaned" for them to get a game ready good PG. Plus coming off an Achilles injury is extremely tough so the probability that he will be an impact player two years from now is probably low.

Think of all the future NBA players we lost - Derrick Rose, Eric Gordon, Cory Maggette, Jalen Brunson, more recently Talen Horton Tucker. No comparison.
I am intrigued by idea of using Coleman or Ty at PG. We did not have problem with press.
Nothing wrong with freshman PGs. Kiwane Garris, Derek Harper, Deron Williams, Frank Williams all did fine as freshman. Skyy and Jayden would have been much better as sophomores. Welcome to the new Portal world.

The WAC was a lot better than it historically has been this year, with Pomeroy grading it out above the A-10 (and well above the MAC, if we're still thinking about that). Utah Valley had it a bit easier than the rest of the conference because they were the best team and you don't play against yourself, but nonetheless they played a decent schedule that included the #48 non-conference SOS.
Pomeroy also had Woodbury as the third-best player in his league. (Domask was #2 in the Valley.) Say what you want about the quality of competition but at least these guys seem to be near the top of their peer group.

It's nearly impossible to navigate the torrid recruiting waters in college basketball today --- especially in light of NIL, the transfer portal, social media, and the unpredictable mindset of 17-22 year olds.
