Joel Goodson

As a volume scoring combo, true, not as the kind of true point facilitator we would be best with.

But as a winner, not just an empty points-getter. The sour grapes about the disappointing and ugly way things shook out with him here have curdled into a plainly incorrect analysis of his potential as a basketball player.

I think Epps has a ton of potential. I think many share my view. But there's a wide gulf between his current state and his ceiling.

Yeah, less Epps talk. More Podz talk.

How did this become an Epps bashing thread?

I have to imagine the staff will be all in on Mulcahy- while there may be other grad transfers that graduate and become available this summer, none will be a better fit than Mulcahy - he would be a huge lift to our prospects this year
It doesn't seem to me to be an Epps-bashing thread. He was enormously promising early in the season and just didn't fit (which is being kind to him.) I feel about him at this point the way I felt about Belo after he left: sad at the unfulfilled potential in O&B, resigned to the high probability that it's a good thing he's no longer in the locker room.

IIRC in the Texas game I kept remarking that he was playing like a grown-a$$ man.

In other news (regarding our current guys)-
Have heard that Ty has really progressed since the season ended and would not be surprised if he's one of our best players this year.
Also, Dain has lost significant amounts of fat and will "likely be one of the best 5s in the country"

Ty progressing talk got me drooling.

Here is the plan
Step 1: shoot 1 million shots in off-season
Step 2: ???
Step 3: Profit

That easy!

Do you expect him to start at the 3 over Domask and Goode?

No. I expect him to start at the 1 if we don't land another pg.
They are going to go for Paul, but I think the staff really really wants Reeves as well. They are super high on Ty as a pg. And yes it's a risk if they end up with Reeves or someone else over Paul.
I know Reeves really likes Illinois and would love to be here

Great to hear. Brings back an earlier question: if Ty and Dainja are starters, along with TSJ, Hawkins and PG… is Guerrier actually the likely roster opening? Love to have him, but doesn’t seem like what he thought he was signing up for?

Big Dain fan. He has the most to gain/lose by us getting a quality pg IMO.

Harmon is the one that might be leaving from everything I have heard. If that ends up happening, they will want to get Reeves, Paul, or another pg option

Notre Dame- was 3-17 in the ACC last year with a new coach and a rebuild - I can't imagine that's what he wants for his last year
Kentucky- has Dillingham as one of the best PG recruits in the country coming in - I can't imagine Calipari recruiting over him, even if he does, does Mulcahy want to play with a team of freshman for his one year?
UCLA - they could make sense, he steps in for Tyger on a talented team with a lot of turnover - similar to us, but we have more experience returning
Michigan - they aren't going to be very good, although they need a PG,

We seem to be the best fit on paper - but we all know what that is worth in the world of recruiting!

I don’t think he’d be a “PG” or primary ball handler at UK/UCLA. He’d be off ball and still add a ton of value with solid ball handling, shooting, passing.

I'd love to have Reeves, having another proven go to scorer outside of TSJ would be lethal...

However, just feel like if I had to chose between a vet PG and Reeves, I'd take the vet PG...

That is unless we can get both 🤣🤣

NIL isn't the only factor for Mulcahy, but it's a top factor. I'm not sure Illinois would go all-in with that and may prefer to wait on Reeves.
that would be beyond stupid...Mulcahy fills a position of desperate need way more than Reeves, ...something something, take pie when pie is a passing

Doesn't matter, RayJ is past...I have enough faith in Underwood that RayJ miss will have zero impact on Mulcahy or whoever is next
Only impact it should have is knowing when to go with plan B rather than get string along

Admissions? Or Creaned?

Edit: nvm it’s entirely admissions per the post directly above lol
