I think Epps will be a decent scorer. Nothing great. Clark is a head case and too slow. A never was. RJ is just a guy unless he figures out how to shoot again.I fully expect all of them to be great players. That's why we were excited to land them in the first place. Not much you can do about it now.
He’s closer to not being on the roster than ever seeing the court in an illini uniformQuestion for anyone with insight. Having seen a small bit of tape on Moretti, it seems to me that I have seen a couple thousand high school kids capable of playing at the same level....but not for the Illini. Yet, there has to be some skill level beyond what we have seen that COULD make him a high level contributor to this team. Does anyone know what that might be? Biggest concern for me, is he defensibly capable of stopping, or even slowing down, any B1G offensive player? I am going to need a lot of positive film and performance on the court to understand what he brings to the roster. Sincerely, I hope we can get some positive answers, but I sure can't provide any. Honest questions and my wish is that he becomes a B1G All-Time legend.
Not to be a dick, but which Einstein on staff thought we could use a scholly on a 6’ foot 150 lb kid who does not project to play high D1, at least in our system. He’s closer to not being on the roster than ever seeing the court in an illini uniform

Doesn’t really matter who you use it one….most of the guys in the 12-15 range on the roster are candidates to not see the floorNot to be a dick, but which Einstein on staff thought we could use a scholly on a 6’ foot 150 lb kid who does not project to play high D1, at least in our system.
You didn't answer my question. How many were really worth considering and we had a chance tobget.Since PG was such an obvious need - any of the top 50 PGs would’ve been a good start, and then go up from there?
Unless you were to stock the rest of your roster with 1 center, 1 160-lb freshman PG, 1 one legged PG, and 9 wings. Then it might matter.Doesn’t really matter who you use it one….most of the guys in the 12-15 range on the roster are candidates to not see the floor
Well we have 13 scholarship players.Doesn’t really matter who you use it one….most of the guys in the 12-15 range on the roster are candidates to not see the floor
I feel like past #8 you are looking at guys that are specialty parts or "good teammates looking for a UI degree" Anything else and they are going to be transferingDoesn’t really matter who you use it one….most of the guys in the 12-15 range on the roster are candidates to not see the floor
Moretti's ride is not the reason there isn't a PG on the roster. Also if Williams makes it to the court he is a PG. Maybe not the one you wanted but he is one.Well we have 13 scholarship players.
None apparently can play any PG this year.
It sure as fck matters right now.
Glad you guys are not in charge of roster development.Moretti's ride is not the reason there isn't a PG on the roster. Also if Williams makes it to the court he is a PG. Maybe not the one you wanted but he is one.
How many years experience as a D1 coach do you have under your belt?Glad you guys are not in charge of roster development.
The reality is we brought in 4 guards last year and only one was sort of a PG and he was a bust.
Then we bring in another guard in Moretti and he will never play according to observers.
So five guards and the only one that was a point guard (he never looked like one at all really), was a drama queen with no wheels.
Staff really didn't plan this out.
We could have recruited another PG or transfer who could actually play.
Now we have to patch it together.
LolHow many years experience as a D1 coach do you have under your belt?
Same as you.How many years experience as a D1 coach do you have under your belt?
Your question was which PG would’ve “pleased” me. I have no idea who we had a chance to get and that’s the root of the problem, because it appears like we didn’t have a chance to get anyone in the top 50 at least. Worth considering? I agree with @IllinistuckinGopherland that generally the top 20 would’ve been nice. You didn't answer my question. How many were really worth considering and we had a chance tobget.
Another miss....?
Imagine this board if Epps, Clark, RJ all become stars next year
no. just this board sometimesAnother miss....?
Same as you.
I'm afraid it's gonna be a long summer of this insanity.no. just this board sometimes
What do you mean? Ya we could throw a bunch of NIL at him but do u guys really think Illinois is the only program with a ton of NIL? If Kentucky wants him they’ll match the offer and if the guy doesn’t want to stay in Big Ten then he’s not gonna. Yeah NIL is a factor but for most guys that’s only if the other items on the checklist are checked. This offseason has taught us thatI’m just saying I would do whatever I could to get Paul. Even if he was apprehensive at first. I’d make it really hard for him to say no to us.

In that case, wish we could say the same about Geoff AlexanderHe’s closer to not being on the roster than ever seeing the court in an illini uniform
