I fully expect all of them to be great players. That's why we were excited to land them in the first place. Not much you can do about it now.
I think Epps will be a decent scorer. Nothing great. Clark is a head case and too slow. A never was. RJ is just a guy unless he figures out how to shoot again.
Wish it would have worked with Epps as he might have developed into a decent combo guard once he learned to guard. He does not seem to interested in that but BU doing the Matt Foley thing didn't help.

Question for anyone with insight. Having seen a small bit of tape on Moretti, it seems to me that I have seen a couple thousand high school kids capable of playing at the same level....but not for the Illini. Yet, there has to be some skill level beyond what we have seen that COULD make him a high level contributor to this team. Does anyone know what that might be? Biggest concern for me, is he defensibly capable of stopping, or even slowing down, any B1G offensive player? I am going to need a lot of positive film and performance on the court to understand what he brings to the roster. Sincerely, I hope we can get some positive answers, but I sure can't provide any. Honest questions and my wish is that he becomes a B1G All-Time legend.

He’s closer to not being on the roster than ever seeing the court in an illini uniform

Doesn’t really matter who you use it one….most of the guys in the 12-15 range on the roster are candidates to not see the floor
I feel like past #8 you are looking at guys that are specialty parts or "good teammates looking for a UI degree" Anything else and they are going to be transfering

Moretti's ride is not the reason there isn't a PG on the roster. Also if Williams makes it to the court he is a PG. Maybe not the one you wanted but he is one.
Glad you guys are not in charge of roster development.

The reality is we brought in 4 guards last year and only one was sort of a PG and he was a bust.
Then we bring in another guard in Moretti and he will never play according to observers.
So five guards and the only one that was a point guard (he never looked like one at all really), was a drama queen with no wheels.

Staff really didn't plan this out.

We could have recruited another PG or transfer who could actually play.

Now we have to patch it together.

How many years experience as a D1 coach do you have under your belt?

You didn't answer my question. How many were really worth considering and we had a chance tobget.
Your question was which PG would’ve “pleased” me. I have no idea who we had a chance to get and that’s the root of the problem, because it appears like we didn’t have a chance to get anyone in the top 50 at least. Worth considering? I agree with @IllinistuckinGopherland that generally the top 20 would’ve been nice.

I’m just saying I would do whatever I could to get Paul. Even if he was apprehensive at first. I’d make it really hard for him to say no to us.
What do you mean? Ya we could throw a bunch of NIL at him but do u guys really think Illinois is the only program with a ton of NIL? If Kentucky wants him they’ll match the offer and if the guy doesn’t want to stay in Big Ten then he’s not gonna. Yeah NIL is a factor but for most guys that’s only if the other items on the checklist are checked. This offseason has taught us that

I'm afraid it's gonna be a long summer of this insanity.
no. just this board sometimes

Isn’t that purpose of this board though?

I almost never read the game thread and if I do it’s to complain about officiating and maybe coaching because I don’t like to read people just trashing the players like they do in that thread. To me, it’s wrong. I’d rather criticize the coach who’s getting $5 million plus per year all-in.

During the off-season this is what gets debated, and the coaches get criticized. I don’t understand why some people think this is a problem. If you don’t like reading it then avoid the thread like I do the game threads.
