I hadn't seen it mentioned on here but Luke Williams' older brother Zeke recently transferred from NIU to be a preferred walk on at Purdue. Really wish Zeke wanted to stay in DeKalb next season because the news would likely have been different today.

If you have to take a brother just to get a kid … He better be pretty good … 🤷🏻‍♂️

But that’s just my opinion …

Zeke was a good player at Naperville North, not as big or as athletic as Luke. I don't blame Purdue for wanting him as a PWO, but I think Zeke is actually selling himself short by taking a walk on spot rather than trying to start at a group of five school.

We're Illinois. Of course this run ends this afternoon with Luke Williams going with Walters and Kane to ruin the mood.

Great commitments, hard too see two top DBs go elsewhere when we are sending this position to the pros.

A GREAT recruiting stretch! Losing a few...winning MOST! Love landing the big hosses up front on offense and defensive lines! And the linebacker they compare to Butkus-- remember he's 6'1 215, while Butkus was 6'3# 250, when in that era he was as big as most linemen... and he WAS a heat seeking missile, never to be replicated, in college OR pro.

I NEVER worry about the guys who go elsewhere-- only the ones who want to become Illini. Most of the guys who go to another program you never hear from again. And those who choose a wet behind the ears head coach over a fully-credentialed one with high levels of success did so probably to be with their brother... that's cool!

What I'm looking for is a big stud running back like WIscowsin always seems to come up with. Could he already be on the team in the person of last year's recruit from Decatur? We need one each year!

Football recruiting has me PUMPED... now... about basketball....

what he is saying is , a high school kid doesnt have a NIL to get paid for. maybe he will half way thru the season, but not before he leaves high school

I guess , lines need to be drawn somewhere

It's not just the number of commits, but we are getting high ceiling kids with great offer lists. A far cry from what we have seen in the last 10 years.
I am glad to see this. I have not followed commitments very closely in the past so it helps me to understand the process a little better. Seeing IL at 43rd on the 24/7 website made me wonder what was happening. Don't get me wrong, I love these young men wanting to make a commitment to play for Illinois. I really do. Welcome to the Illini family to each and everyone of them. I also don't get caught up in the star ratings as there have been plenty of 3 star high school players go on to have an impact in the NCAA and NFL. I guess I was a little surprised that, according to the 24/7 website Illinois has not received a commitment from a 4 or 5 star player. It feels like it will be more difficult to climb into the upper ranks of the Big Ten without a few players of that caliber.
