People need to keep in mind: 247 overall team rankings value quantity over quality right now. For instance, Minnesota was at 13th in the country as of yesterday. Impressive, right? But they have 19 commits, and their overall rankings are fine but not anywhere near a class that will be top-15, let alone top-25. Patience, folks.

This is why I didn't mention them or Rutgers on my list. That said, Minnesota does have a lot more commitments than Illinois but their AVG is still slightly (effectively the same) higher than Illinois'. This is why I included AVG in my posts. Illinois is showing a substantial improvement in commit quality. Still important to know that many others are still in the same ballpark or slightly higher.

19 commits is impressive. Players must really crave those walleye fish sandwiches and swedish meatballs!

Would take a lot of time to build a list like this for other B1G teams because of 247 page limitations (for example, once a player signs, you have to manually look through the timeline to see commitment date, when other offers were conferred, etc.). Took me about 45 minutes to build this for just Illinois.
this is a microcosm for recruiting... you worked hard, built this whole analysis that nobody has seen, and then the next guy is like "great, now do more!" that's how i felt about this record-setting weekend... some fans are like ... "what else you got?" (not hating on guy who wanted to see whole league, but i knew this was a big / thankless job)

I can appreciate the fact that he helped us have an awesome defense while also actively rooting for him to lose. He's acting like he was the sole reason any of our players got drafted or had any success. I understand it's gamesmanship. Purdue fans can love him for it. I don't have to.
Just for my informational purposes, what did he say/tweet to make him come across like he's the sole reason behind the success of our players? If I see that he made those type of comments, that may alter my opinion a bit.

As someone who looks at the 247 rankings, I can tell you Illinois typically has a bottom 2 big ten avg player score. Right now there are a good chunk of teams below us (slightly but still below). Hopefully we can keep up the quality for the remainder of the class.

I just noticed that Dylan Stephenson is showing as a Stanford commit. That must have happened in the last 48 hours. He is still showing on our visitor list for the weekend of June 23, so who knows 😏.

The Replacements in ‘86…that sounds like a hootenanny! Serious street-cred…dude.
Rock on…
Memorable show. As with many Replacements gigs involving the original lineup it ended when two of the three among the two Stinson brothers and Chris Mars passed out on stage.

How Westerberg put up with them as long as he did was a mystery to me.

Saw them just a couple years later with Slim Dunlap on guitar and it was somewhat more refined performance.

Paul had some problems of his own. If you're a fan and you've not already, I'd highly recommend "Trouble Boys" by Bob Mehr, one of the best rock bios I've ever read.

How 'bout them Illini?

The Stinson brothers were truly out of their minds. Chris Mars actually released his own album later that was very good. My BIL and friend was drinking with them in a bar in Pittsburgh, BEFORE the show! They were so effed up they couldn't play anything!

Saw the final Replacements show, in Grant Park in the summer of 1991...they closed by one-by-one, mid-song, having a roadie take their place so the end of the show was all roadies playing. Then they told XRT (who was broadcasting the show) that they were done.
