Not sure how to embed a tweet, so here's a screenshot. This would have an, uh, interesting effect on recruiting.

The sooner the super conferences secede from the NCAA and form their own organization the better! NCAA getting desperate at this point; they know their time is short.

Nah that will kill it completely and ruin the tournament.

I feel we need far more posts calling out how stupid this is.

So Kofi can say, ehhh I don't really like it over here in Japan after 4 years, I think I'll go back to college and finish my degree, then go from there?

If a guy that left early for the NBA, busts out after 2 or 3 seasons, he can go back to college? So now you're going to have 24-27 year old professionally trained guys, who were already really good to begin with since they left school early, coming back to play in college? How do you know which guys to recruit? Do they just pick a school? Everything about it is very very stupid.

My gut feel is he will be doing almost exactly what you want this season. If Brad draws up the offense with the bulk of Ty's time outside the arc, I'd be surprised as it really doesn't utilize Ty's biggest assets he's shown up to this point. I'm thinking once the ball is brought up the floor and in the frontcourt, Ty will rotate inside and CoHawk or Guerrier will cycle outside for a spot up open three. Ty is just such a menace on the boards and plays so well within a couple feet of the rim, if we play away from those strengths, I'm not entirely sure what we're doing as it'd be really suboptimal to have him turn primarily into a jumpshooter or slasher.
I think CoHawk is most valuable down low too which could be a potential chemistry issue with Ty, but if they each learn to follow the other's misses the Illini have the potential to lead the nation in offensive rebounding.

Illinois kids no longer stay home. ESPN and internet changed everything. We have to recruit nationwide to get talent.
Can you clarify this? ESPN and the internet have been around for awhile and kids have I would say the uptick in kids going out of state has been in the last 5-7 years. I’d put this more on the rise of prep schools and what they offer kids.

How do you think that would look? I doubt that would improve the lot of the non power 5 conferences.
I just mean they would likely quickly leave the NCAA to join the larger conferences in a new, alternative collegiate athletics governing body with a new tournament including the big conferences and smaller conferences; just like the NCAA tournament does now.
