I worked as a server at a high end steakhouse during college so I always tip VERY well when people deserve it. Concessions is not one of those times, makes no sense.Just say no! There’s no service. It’s more like a big vending machine.

Correct. Bielema will need to win 8 games consistently, let's say 20 seasons, to even be considered for a statue. That would put Bielema at age 73, so maybe he wouldn't get to enjoy his bronziness as an active coach. But a lot needs to go right to win 8 games at Illinois. Like so damn much.
The 13-12 record for BB after two seasons with Illinois football is worth discussing historically, or at least generationally. The last coach to begin their coaching stint at Illinois to have an above .500 winning percentage after two seasons was John Mackovic in 1989-1990 (which was before my time on Earth), 16-7-1. Mackovic was also the last coach to leave with an above .500 record at Illinois, 30-16-1 (.649).
This one surprised me a bit, but the last coach to have two 8 win seasons at Illinois was Ron Turner. The Sugar Bowl team in 2001 (10-2) and in 1999 (8-4).
Though the flirtations and musing of statues in July are fun, these dreams do have a statute of limitations. During August our Illini will grind and slog through camp, but September is coming. Will we rise to our fanbases loftiest of ceilings or crash like so many other Illini teams before them?
I agree in principle, but you have to realize how LOW the bar is to be the GOAT here … no one is saying he’s Nick Saban, but the fact that we are coming off of 8 regular season wins and can realistically see 8 or more this year is something Illini fans have experienced a handful of times in 50+ years.I hope we go undefeated. I bleed O+B. Just saying lets see how he does without the players he lost & the Coaches that moved on before we anoint him as the GOAT of Illinois football coaches.
B10 Freshman of the Year, no?I know his sophomore year was his best year, but the way we used him as a freshman was so exciting and that offense was so much fun to watch.
Yeah but his best year yards from scrimmage wise was sophomore year.B10 Freshman of the Year, no?
As someone who has installed these systems for nationwide restaurant chains to small mom and pop stores, there are at least 2 levels of redundant systems. Your primary internet connection, a backup/failover connection, and then a tertiary cell connection. Most systems also can cache credit cards in their system and just accepts them without being able to check validity/balance. Yes, some may decline but it's better to lose a couple of orders than a lot by not accepting at all.If the payment system works seamlessly — and that is often a big IF — credit and debit cards are most likely going to be faster. But if a person has his/her money out ready rather than digging around for it, the difference likely isn’t that much. And I’d guess a week doesn’t go by when I’m stuck waiting behind someone with my cash in hand because the card reader won’t work for the person in front of me. That said, I understand why they would go that direction. Just hope the system doesn’t have issues or there will be a bunch of pissed off people.
I was also in school then, College of Media 2011.I was in school during the Juice Williams/Regus Benn era. Hope that Elzy can be the next Benn.

And without rooster teeth there would be no IlliniCaboose (My old scout account had a Caboose avatar).
Yeah, he and Whitman backtracked on the comment a few days later. Said it was discussed but would be years down the road if it were to happen. During Whitman’s media round table this summer, he mentioned the potential of a NEZ renovation during/after the SEZ renovation (for which there is currently no time table). I assume the relocation of the students would correspond with a NEZ renovation…so we’re talking MANY years off. Also, Bielema seemed to let it slip last November that he was pushing for the students to be moved out of the NEZ … if that were to happen, you’d think it would be for this season, so I’m guessing he lost that battle?

Allow cash? Those concession sales are slow enough. Good lord if they had to stand there and make change... game over. Like the game would be over before I got my beer and hot dog. LOL I know Josh says this is a HUGE focus this fall and concessions are supposed to improve, but I'll believe it when I see it. We've been getting promise after promise since outsourcing concessions and it's been an absolute, unmitigated disaster. It's been getting less horrible but it's not as good as it used to be with the volunteers scattered around the stadium. Cash. Hilarious. Was State Farm Center cashless last season as well? I honestly can't remember. From the article:
All concessions sales in Memorial Stadium are cashless.
This is absolutely atrocious and should be over turned. Allow cash!!
I guess the beer concession was working pretty well at SFC for you then.Like the game would be over before I got my beer and hot dog.

Beer concession at State Farm WAS working well. You'd grab your beer(s), hand them to the woman that helped us every game, she'd open them for us while someone rang us up. Scan the card wirelessly and done. Those long lines moved very quickly. I asked her once why they had to open them for us... safety issue. Unopened can is solid and can be thrown. Who knew? Contrast that with football... which game was it? The people behind the concession stand had given up trying to match orders with numbers and were just putting food and drink up on the counter and people were grabbing whatever after a 30 minute wait. The week after that madness, I'm walking to my seats and there's a beer dude with a dozen coolers stacked around him asking me if I'd like a beer. No line, wireless scan, and done. I really hope they actually figure that all out. I think concessions was the number one complaint the last couple seasons. Usually the number one complaint is the football team so progress! As far as football goes, I think our offense surprises everyone and we're a better team than last year. Seven wins?I guess the beer concession was working pretty well at SFC for you then.
Crazy that his TD total was so low. Guessing that's partially a product of those offenses getting to the red zone then just pounding the ground.Yeah but his best year yards from scrimmage wise was sophomore year.
Locksley was so damn good. The triple option look out of shotgun with Mendenhall as the handoff read and benn as the pitch read with juice running it was just absurd.Yeah but his best year yards from scrimmage wise was sophomore year.
Our passing stats were not very good, even though both Juice and McGee showed some flashes. Juice in 2007 was only 1,743 yards for 13TD 12INT despite his most memorable game for me being the 4 TD performance vs OSU.Crazy that his TD total was so low. Guessing that's partially a product of those offenses getting to the red zone then just pounding the ground.
Yeah it was fun to watch for sure, but I think doomed because we never could find a lot of consistency with the passing game.Locksley was so damn good. The triple option look out of shotgun with Mendenhall as the handoff read and benn as the pitch read with juice running it was just absurd.
