DGL is channeling a ton of Trent Frazier vibes from what we are hearing. Trent had the unique combination of drive, work ethic, belief in himself, and ultimately, humility. If DGL has all that, I'll not only be impressed but excited, as he seems to have plus athleticism as well. Will he stick around long enough to develop it? Who knows in this age?

Frazier came in to the program as a pure scorer too. He had to earn that reputation as a premier defender with his work. DGL definitely had a chance to do something similar.

Be interested in seeing a lineup of DGL, Buck, TSJ, Q, and Hawk. Lot of quickness and speed for an opponent to deal with on either offense or defense. Three of those guys can beat their shadows on a fast break.

Just based on what we saw here Skyy couldn’t carry DGL’s jock either offensively or defensively. Playing with Sencire would be a nightmare for opposing guards. There is no way Sencire doesn’t see significant minutes. Those two are athletic freaks with an attitude.

When learning basic plays you don't go full speed, it is a summer practice session.

Wait... you mean there's smiling, clapping, encouragement, butt-pats & hi-fives going on during these practices??? I expected this video to pretty much be looped clips of screaming F bombs directed at freshman PGs interspersed with occasional fart noises.
I don't know man... I didn't see a single free throw. That's got to be a bad sign, right?

I was off the board for a few days. Is Domask hurt?

Based on those highlights, there is no way on planet Earth Sencire Harris isn't getting significant playing time this season. He can now easily get above the rim, he's no longer just on on-ball defender but is jumping passing lanes, and his stroke from the other clip looks much more fluid. He looks like huge sophomore leap material and fact is, he was pretty darn good as a freshman. Barring injury, I have trouble seeing how he doesn't force Brad to keep him off the bench.
So Harris plays the 1 & 2. It is probable that TSJ in contested games vs tough opponents will get 35 minutes at the 2. That leaves minimal time in that spot. We need our new shooters and a healthy Goode at the 3. So if Harris is one if our top 8 or 9 guys in the rotation, and is going to play many minutes who are you sitting at PG? There are so few minutes at the 2 if we want our best shooters on the floor. Imo our top 8 or 9 guys are pretty clear.
1- DGL, Ty, then Harmon or Harris a few minutes
2-TSJ a ton of playing time, then Harmon or Harris a few minutes
3- Domask, Goode, Quincy
4- Hawk, Quincy, Domask
5- Dain, Hawkins

With either Harmon or Harris thats 9 with both 10. I doubt we go 10 deep in close games. It seems clear that Harmon and Harris are 9th and 10th Iine barring injury. It is easy to say Harris will play a lot but if he does then who are you sitting at the 1? Someone must sit for Harris to crack the top 8.

Harmon is closer to being the 6th man or starting then being 9th or 10th. The kid can play. He was the leading scorer on a team that should have went to the tournament if not for a tough conference tourney loss and then he absolutely lit it up in the NIT which contrary to popular belief has a ton of talented teams.

Shannon, Hawk, Domask, Goode, Ty, Harmon will be the top 6 in minutes imo. Guerrier and Dain will be next and then DGL and Harris will take whatever minutes are left. Now things could change if Ty doesn't work out at a point guard or because of injuries.

Guerrier has also been most effective in his career playing as a small ball 5. With how Brad has talked about wanting to play in the past I think Dain might be the odd big out and be very matchup dependent.

*may not play in Spain. They're not leaving him (and his family) at home.
That's good to hear. The Illini Inquirer article was kind of ambiguous.

"Why it matters: Domask is expected to play a significant role for Illinois, but if the injury holds him out of the Spain trip, it would be a lost opportunity to help him mesh with a new-look Illinois roster, which includes three transfers and two freshmen. "
