Why play both? Jalon is the BIG-12 Preseason Offensive Player of the Year.

I ask because it would seemingly indicate he isn’t 100%.
Back injuries/stiffness don't go away overnight. Daniels is good to go unless he has a setback this week. Think it is more about the next day and how his body feels after a practice, etc than anything else. One weird Sammy Sosa sneeze and you never know :ROFLMAO:

If Kansas offense is so much better than their defense, it might be the perfect game to resurect the barge formation to slow them down and win the time of possession . At least part of the game. Im hoping our defense has had a come to JESUS moment watching the Toledo game and comes hungry !

Barge formation only worked because Penn State wouldn't align their defense to stop it for some reason I can't even fathom.

A better X and O person can explain, but it made so sense to me.

I am going to use the general attitude of confidence that I saw on the KU message boards to once again propose that this fan base actually has a decidedly LOW number of "homers" and tends to be overly pessimistic/realistic as far as most fan bases go. As much as we have suffered, KU football fans have had it at least as bad ... but they're practically talking themselves into thinking they'll win comfortably.

It sure would be nice to punch them right in the face early and never look back. :)

They stayed in their base front and even had an extra safety in the game. Makes it so easy to block. Why they didn’t sub to a different package with 5 down linemen and another LB is beyond me.

we occasionally ran an unbalanced line in high school . two tackles on one side
many teams were totally not ready for it - much like the swinging gate xp formation goofs some teams up

with unbalance line the Defense just needs to shift down one place . nothing magic about it and if it worked so well all the time more teams would do it

it’s still usually good for one drive per game tho . we should run it more just to make teams spend time on it .

Well, it did take us four quarters and nine overtimes to score 20 points against that front, so it’s not like we were a juggernaut against it. Still… that had to look appetizing to the offense.

One concern for the defense dating back to last year is a dual threat qb. Tanner Morgan?? Was the best dual threat qb last year maybe? Big West just doesn’t have dual threats. Olbs can sell out on the run, but seem to have issues on zone read. New position coach doesn’t have experience with that either.
Finn gave issues, Daniels or Kansas qb will too. Have to figure out how to handle dual threat qb with this defense. Didn’t work out well vs Toledo.
2nd half looked ok. We adjusted

He's not 100% ... It's a back injury and those things can flare up ... It could very easily be a situation where he gets smoked into the ground and he has to come out ...

I can nearly guarantee he will be sliding a lot more than lowering the shoulder like he usually does ...

He practiced fine so far this week but he's getting treatment on it around the clock per source ... Tells me all I need to know ...

With a convincing win I think Top 25 is possible. Voters tend to like the idea of big matchups for tv. So you will sometimes see a bump due to that. That said, rankings mean so little this early, plus we still need to beat Kansas on the road, which is no easy task. Get it done though, and then upset PSU, and now we're probably flirting with the top 15
Sure maybe but I think if we win this game it’ll be by less than 5 points

Well, I'm just super excited at the thought of shoving the ball down the Jayhawks beak...but..I was certain that game plan would decimate a terrible Toledo run defense.
And we almost....p@ssed....the game away. swidt

So...sign me up....but if somebody could go ahead and.....hand off..... that message to BLunneyJr...that would be great. Thanks.

Plan to arrive around noon on Friday. Anyone know of a good local campus bar to grab a beer and burger (think Murphy's) in Lawrence? I have read about the Wheel. Temps look to be hot and tailgating does not appear to have much shade...
You could check out free state. They make some decent beer. I’ve been out in Lawrence a few times. The wheel had a good vib but really anything on Mass st is where I would start. It’s changed since I was last there.
