Penn State 30, Illinois 13 Postgame

I wonder if we might try to find another O coordinator in the off-season?

The offensive coordinator didn't throw 4 INTs and fumble it today ... However, Barry has room for improvement ... He knows that ...

I don't think we are in new OC mode yet though ... I'd say it's a 5/10 right now ... But I expect to see less McCray and more Feagin and more Elzy ... We have got to establish the run ... Love what I am seeing from Reggie Love ... Not liking what I am seeing from Pat Bryant ... Not happy with Kreutz today on the penalties either ...

And for all those saying we need Paddock ... Stop ... I like John ... But he is not a Big Ten QB ... We need our QB to get his swagger back and he will ...

Stop it! Paddock is not a B1G QB. Altmyer had a terrible game but it’s only his 3rd start of his career. Not surprised he had a tough game against a team that has national championship talent.
Penn St is not a national title talent nor team this year. Slow and obvious play calling. Solid above average secondary. But if you've watched, USC, Notre Dame, Texas, completely on a different level. Penn St is not CFP team!

Also weak at QB.

Heck I would say that Penn State is the second best team we played this year and their offense is the worst we played by decent margin.

I turned it off. But just noticed Paddock went 10/16 and 8 yards per pass completion
Luke, 4 yards 4.Ints? Uh?

This program is still a work in progress. After a hot start last season, they are 2-6 since, very easily could be 1-7.
These next three games are definitely winnable. If they stumble, it’ll be hard to get to .500. If they win next three, hopefully propels them to a 8-9 win season.
However, as of now, be very fortunate to get 6 wins. I just see too many holes in this team and in the play calling on both sides of the ball.

Just the kind of answer I was hoping for.

I am in no way an expert on football. however I believe our offensive line is horrible... That is either on the OLine coach or simply a lack of talent in all positions.. I underdstand Penn St is one of the top teams in the country but they're D line was in the backfield all game long. I just dont get how you can run running plays from the shotgun with these guys and expect your QB not to be rushing every throw. This line has looked suspect to me in all 3 games.

I was impressed with our defense yesterday. I haven’t looked at stats but from what I remember off the top of my head, the 2 minute drive for the field goal were the only points they drove the ball down the field on a full possession for. The rest of their points were on short fields from our turnovers. If you consider we held them to mostly field goals for those drives, the D was locked in. Matt Bailey was more like a linebacker out there until he got hurt. He was playing in the box and honestly when we were in zone he only bailed all the way back a couple times. We could have really used him at Kansas to help cover the field on intermediate throws. Idk what his injury was but I hope he’s ok.

Offense, it sucks but Luke is a young qb in terms of game experience. Those games are going to happen and sometimes they HAVE to happen. I thought our line was better but still not great today. I do think this is the right people in the right places going forward tho.

We got tested out of the gate, we’re 1-2, defense is coming together and from here on out I think they keep us in every game. If the offense ever wakes up I think we go bowling again.

Loved seeing Bailey in the DB backfield. To me, he added a very solid presence as he had solid hits and tackles. He needs to stay healthy.
Loved seeing Feagin get the ball. Hope to see him a lot more in the FAU game. He also brought a more solid presence due to his height and weight as opposed to the smallish Love and mid-sized McCray.
Loved seeing Elzy get that TD catch!! He is going to be good for us.

I didn’t see the whole game but the positive for me is that we didn’t get completely dominated like we did against Kansas- we played them fairly even for a large portion of the game with the turnovers really being the difference

On the downside our OL is not very good which makes calling a good offense difficult- but Looney has to scheme up something different. We made some adjustments on D after Kansas and it was really effective- hopefully we can do the same on Offense

Being a member of a Big 2 conference it’s clear our OCs ceiling whether it be game planning, play calling, or recruiting is far too low to be competitive. I’m not saying he’s a bad OC but it’s clear he isn’t Big10 or SEC level.

Kicking game was also very sub par. Missed FG, low punts allowing for decent returns, not being able to get the kick offs in the endzone allowing for returns passed the 25. I refuse to believe that a HS All American kicker can't boom it out the back of the EZ on kickoffs. He might not be trusted enough on FGs yet, but Olano should be on kick off duty, those were embarrassing today. And if they're doing that by design STOP IT.
