Will be interesting to see if Bret moves on from Henry after one season. On the one hand, he clearly had no issues cutting bait with Peterson when it clearly wasn’t working. I don’t know much about football but it sure seemed to me like the defense wasn’t working this year. But Henry is Bret’s guy for 20+ years. Would be a hard decision to make.

is growing up 10 miles apart and pretty much the same age as Bielema enough to get Holgorsen as our OC?
Does his buyout have restrictions like Leonhard's? I can see him taking a year off and then taking another head coaching job.

I can't be the only person who thinks a Big Ten school isn't where an OC or DC should "learn on the job"? Save that crap for the sun belt. This it's supposed to be big boy football not "let's give my buddy or my son a chance here".
Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe this is 100% on talent and lack of depth (which is also the responsibility of the coaches to address) and not scheme. But every single team loses players to the draft, graduation, and transfers. They alone can't explain how terrible we were on defense, primarily at the end of halfs and games (which I would argue is mostly scheme based).

My feeling is to trust Bret on this one... one on hand he's shown he's more than willing to move on when a scheme isn't working. However, Petersen is a veteran OC who should know how to get the most out of his players as a P5 and our offense was horrendous.

Henry has never been a DC, and it showed. You could make the argument for a change, sure... but I also don't know if you can let one year define a new DC. I think in some aspects we are really not considering how much turnover the secondary had. For 1, Taz has Witherspoon across from him in 2022 so we were probably much more able to give him some help. He wasn't going to get that as much this year. Our defensive scheme is one that needs decisive, athletic play in the secondary and that comes from experience. With all the injuries and new faces I'm not surprised that we struggled, I just thought we'd make up for it up front.... which we really didn't apart from Newton.

I say give him another year with the caveat that two things must be more apparent. Better secondary play and more effective adjustments.

On O I'm fine with Lunney staying if we can cut out the turnovers and get some TE's with softer hands.
