Allen is not a bad coach for IU. Playing scUM OSU and PSU every year is pretty much 3 loses. Them competing for bowls is a successful year for them.

It is hard to expect a good team when the players can go elsewhere for more. A&M paid good money and did not get the results

It will be interesting to see who MSU and NW hire to fill their vacancies and does Jim H leave scUM for the NFL

The nuke has exploded

This one will effect all of the sport. One name to watch that might (very, very slim possibility) affect us, Jeff Traylor of UTSA who once had one Barry Lunney Jr on his staff.
I think A&M will go for a higher profile coach with a proven track record. When their fan base thinks they should win the SEC and go to the playoffs every year they will try and get a big name with a big salary. Not say UTSA has not done well

-Chris Klieman, Kansas State head coach
-James Franklin, Penn State head coach

The argument that Rittenberg makes is that he'd be the first coach they've had since R.C. Slocum that would connect with the school and the fanbase better than the other candidates with the history that Traylor has in east Texas. If they look at the hiring from a smart and financially sensible perspective (which admittedly A&M hasn't done in their recent hires), then he's their best bet.

insanely high dollar amounts notwithstanding , which A&M could afford
I have a hard time seeing any existing B1G coach or SEC coach or soon to be B1G coach wanting to get involved with that mess
Elko , Dykes Kleiman or Leipold make most sense to me .

I don't see Leipold leaving his KU spot until he retires in a few years. They're going to build a statue of him outside their new stadium if he keeps sending them to bowl games in a OU/Texas-free B12.

Whoever A&M picks is going to have to deal with the insanely high expectations that come from that fanbase. Playing in the SEC is a career killer for head coaches unless everything lines up perfectly for them to be successful.

However with A&M it isn't about the money according to Lonestar....

Of course Lanning seems to be target one according my TwitterX feed lol

Jimbo made almost $10 million per year. Leipold’s currently at $5 million per year.

The ability to spend $76M to pay a coach to go away is mind boggling to me.
the contract + the ability + the willingness is truly

Texas A&M is a doomed job that only the most egotistical maniac would WANT to deal with the stress.

NIL improves it a lot but it's like a NFL job without the draft/free agency.

So come on down Brian Kelly....

I'm surprised Urban Meyer's name hasn't popped up... my bruv, an MSU grad, thinks he'll be the next Sparty coach (I have zero clue if this is even close to reality).
