In the past the Cardinals have rotated guys into the starting lineup and expected them to perform. Blew up in their face last season

I am holding out hope the Cardinals are adding bodies for depth and will still add more quality pitching. So far we have an aged right side rotation that is inconsistent and young lefties who are inexperienced.

Lance Lynn age 36, will be 37 early into the season

Kyle Gibson age 36

Miles Mikolas age 35

Steven Matz age 32, 33 few months into the season

Plenty of time to make more moves. I want to see more quality additions onto the pitching staff and also trade some of our so called "bench depth" for anything of value. No way we should bring some of the OF platoon back for another season along with other spots.

The OF platoon is a chorus line I don’t want to see again. I’m tired of going back to the wishing well with those guys. Get some everyday guys. Since 2019, the platoon in the outfield is all sizzle and no steak. They need to produce. Better yet, get some quality talent you can rely on.

Wasn't going to happen. Fans would be calling for front office to fire Marmol and Yadi replace him 1 game into the season :ROFLMAO:
that's not the only reason. look at the track record, if a guy is a leader and has an opinion the front office doesn't want him.
anyway, fans want marmol out now and its not going to happen.

on the pitching front, now we have 5 pitchers who would be #4 or #5's on just about any other team.
pitiful. still need minimally a #1a and 1b. but we might get a #2. what a waste of Goldy and Arenado.

No doubt

Walker and Nootbaar have staying power. The rest are up for grabs

Molina will be a manager....just not in MLB this season

Yadier Molina was a great Cardinal. But he checked out on the team when he left the country while injured during the 2022 season. Give it some time before he returns to the organization. I know this is not a popular opinion. By the way how many World Series have the Cardinals won with the last 3 managers, who had no prior major league managerial experience when they were hired. By the way, congratulations to Mike Schildt on your new managerial gig. However it did take 2 years to return to this position. Who was the Padres manager in 2006 and 2007 when they last won a division title? None other than Bruce Boccy (sp). Experience counts.

You should probably read some of the other posts on here. It was a reply in reference to someone else getting hired on staff.

Never said I wanted Molina to be manager. Just stated he will not be a manager in the MLB this season.

FYI....the Cardinals are trying to get him back into the organization sooner than later. Doesn't mean it will happen, or that he would be a MLB manager soon. Cardinals have reached out to him already.....

Gray, 34 $25 million per season
Gibson, 36 $12 million
Lynn, 36 $10 million (or is it $11? I have seen both numbers.)
It is a little concerning.
According to their WAR they are the 4,9 and 21st best FA. When I see that, it's not as bad as I imagined.
This from MLB Trade Rumors
Starting pitchers entering their age 34 or older season almost never exceed three years in free agency, with the exception of Jacob deGrom getting five. We still think Gray is likely to surpass Chris Bassitt’s three-year, $63MM deal by securing a fourth year. As a pitcher whose age likely caps his contract at four years, Gray will be a top target for teams uninterested in ponying up for Montgomery, Nola, Snell, or Yamamoto. The Twins may look to retain Gray, but otherwise the Angels, Braves, Cardinals, Cubs, Diamondbacks, Dodgers, Marlins, Mets, Orioles, Padres, Phillies, Rangers, Red Sox, Tigers, and White Sox could be suitors.

I would guess this takes the Cardinals out of the Japanese starters talks..................
My first thought as well. Gray making average of $25 million a season.....sky is limit for Yamamoto for long term deal

Slim chance for him still since most of the guys we added won't be around long term. Figure the Cardinals will try to land another pitcher through trade now. That or maybe I am just hoping they mix up the roster and trade some guys away for another pitcher.

Bunch of short term options at RHP with some youth at LHP. Another slim chance that will cost $$$ but add LHP Snell. Sign Snell and trade some pieces they are looking to move anyways for relief pitching and prospects.

Another nugget I heard on the Major League Baseball TV network was that the Redbirds were 19th out the 30 teams in baseball in runs scored this year. Maybe you can write this off because of the number of injuries this year. But this stat needs to improve. I keep seeing fans promoting the idea of Tommy Edman(56) and Lars Nootbar(46) in the same outfield. Career best RBI's in parenthesis.

No doubt

Here are a few questions I have rolling around in my head for next season. Not focused on injuries or full roster yet until we get closer to spring training. It will be interesting to see who is around starting next season.

Will Winn be ready to start at SS the whole season?

Gorman just DH or pick up more time in the field?

Will Edman, Donovan, etc some of the guys that can play multiple positions land full time spots all season or platoon?

Having Goldy and Arenado put my mind at ease a little more but definitely bunch of things I will be interested to see when the time comes

I glad they finally gave Knizner his walking papers......I would rather see Herrera gain MLB experience than watch Knizner pop up to the 2nd baseman......I know he hit a career high in homers this past year , but so what ??.....did he ever throw a base stealer out ??
