the elimination of guys from the 40 man was perhaps the easiest in the bigs.
ive never seen the cardinal 40 man as weak at the back as it was this year. (and
plenty of room for more releases) only one person to blame....

It's a little bit of a surprise to see who the Cardinals released. On the hand no players that will win the division for them.

Listening to MLB on Sirius during my drives throughout the workday, getting any top tier pitcher is going to be tough. They don’t mention the cards at all for any of the familiar names we’ve heard. They are also hyper focused on major market teams and that also makes me feel better. It makes me feel better that Gould seems to think we have a better than a long shot to get the Japanese pitcher, not prepared to butcher his name.

On the offensive side, I’d like them to make a run at Cody Bellinger. Compare him to say Soto, he is a much better defender with a more than adequate bat. I wish he’d take walks more, of course only if he is in STL.

In the end, we will probably end up with Kyle Gibson and mail it in. 😂😂

we better move fast or get shut out. Nola is gone, so unless we get two via trade, (that means Edman, Donovan and maybe Gorman maybe going away)
we wont or cant compete with the big boys on $200 mil. + pitching.

Went from needing 3 starting pitchers to 2 starting pitchers according to management

Cardinals are waiting on Yamamoto to be posted and see where he lands. He could be posted as early as today but I haven't looked on the updates. If it comes down to $$$ than the big market teams will win out. If it comes down to winning/relationships plus money than the Cardinals are in the running.

Maybe they can meet him Midway??

Guess he did get posted today. Not a power pitcher but has a nice mix of 3-4 pitches with good command. He can land a 7-9 year deal if he wishes at 25 years old. Will depend on years but not surprised this going north of $200 million if asks for more years.

what a joke. Mikolas is the #3? Matz and Mikolas are both better than Lynn right now. those last two better be big time! Yamamoto is used to 5 days rest
so now we'd still be down a starter.

Not really shocked by anything that has happened so far. Lynn, Matz and Mikolas don't excite me at all unless they are the 3-5 spots which isn't likely.

Lynn is a cheap rental they are hoping eats up innings. It was likely going to be signing him or Sonny Gray in one spot. Lynn, Mikolas, Matz plus youngsters Liberatore, Thompson and Rom.

JMO but they need to land another starter in free agency and another through trade. Hoping the Cardinals don't ride with the 3 righties above and one of the young lefties while just looking for one more pitcher........if so they NEED to land an ACE through trade

Any guesses on who we signed today. I thought we wanted to miss more bats?

🧠🤣sometimes I underestimate my brain powers. I actually don't mind Gibson, but not when we just sign Lynn and put them with Miles, and Matz. We have 1 at best #3 and 3 # 4's or 5's. Bob Gibson couldn't save this rotation.
I really hope we move Matz. This can't be what we get. This can't be the way we treat Paul and Nolan. If that's the case move them. All in the Japanese kid and wait for the young pitchers to get here in a year or two.
