Waino to be part of Fox broadcast team during ALDS calling games in one of those series. Sounds like he may work part-time for Fox next season (15 games max?) and the STLToday article mentioned that Bally would be open to have him as part of their rotating group of analysts for Cardinals games if he wanted the opportunity.

Padres lose to the Cardinals 5-2 in 11 innings tonight. With the loss, the Padres have now tied the 1969 Expos with an 0-12 record in extra inning games this season. There's also this, published last month in the San Diego Union-Tribune:

The Padres have never gone an entire season without winning at least four games in extra innings. Their worst extra-inning record was 4-12 in 2011. Just four MLB teams have ever finished a season winless in extra innings, and two of those happened in the COVID-shortened 2020 season.

He would definitely be an improvement over Thompson.

At this point, we're stuck with Thompson whether we like it or not. He left the radio show he was part of in St. Louis due to his increased role on TV.

I think he's been fine. Not as bad as I thought he would be going into the season. I have loved the long running bit he's done all season when a fan in the stands makes a catch (or doesn't in certain situations) and he says where the fan that caught the ball is from.

Chip is okay. But he is hampered with a sidekick like Brad Thompson. Unfortunately, Jim Edmonds is not much better in my view. I think that the guys on the radio side are excellent. This boils down to a matter of taste. I think Thompson is too flippant and does not tell the viewer anything he does not know.

I think Edmonds needs a platform that lets him story tell. That's him at his best. Color
commentary of play by play is quick observations that gets back to the game. There's
little or no time during a game (particularly the pitch clock shortened version) for this
type of work. Rick Horton is our best of the team at both play by play and color. I do like
John Rooney on the radio as well, but that's a unique skill.

Chip is an "old timey" announcer. I want to like him, but haven't gotten over the hump yet.

Mind numbing season. I had some serious hope way back in I think May when Gorman hit that walkoff against the Dodgers. I believe we swept that series, and we were shrinking the division deficit. I believe we got it down to 3 or 4 back and then wheels immediately fell off.

Don't know how you all are surprised by this considering it's mostly gonna be the Memphis Cardinals we'll be seeing this weekend.

On a quick side note, is anyone else enjoying seeing this late season collapse by the Cubs?
I am with you on this. But this is another case where the front office promotes the future. I have been telling people all year the future is here. And it did not work out so well.

Cardinals up 8-0 , no outs in the bottom of the second against the Reds...................

Marlins win in Pittsburgh and have clinched a playoff spot, eliminating the Cubs in the process. The other NL wild card spot could be decided tonight if Arizona wins tonight or the Reds don't come back against the Cardinals.

Losing by 17 runs to winning by 9 runs in back to back games

Just curious....What is the biggest run differential in back to back games like this?

Feel like this group has stated "now we have seen everything" about once a week this season. Luckily for us there is only one game left :ROFLMAO:
