Strange defensive play's by the Cardinals in the top of the 4th...........

Walker dives for a ball in right field that soars over his head.....looked like a catchable ball if he had stayed standing up...
Knizner with a batted ball 3 feet in front of HP with a runner barreling down 3rd base and he tries for a DP at 2nd and first.....could of just move to HP and tagged out the runner......

Strange season ..............

Arenado was yelling at him to get the runner coming home.

There are those such as most front office personnel who point to teams like the Padres and try to tell us that spending money doesn't mean wins and championships. I think most fans already understand that concept. what the fans are thinking is IF our franchise's front office is above average, they should know who are the better quality players. Spend the money on them. Granted everyone is a bit of a gamble to some degree or another. The frustrating part is when a front office is afraid to take the chance and spend money out of fear of making a mistake.
Nothing is guaranteed. I don't think anyone expected Goldy to have his lowest OPS since his rookie half season. Nolan had his second worst. (Again after his rookie season.) Adding them to the team a few years ago was still a good move. Mo and Co need to do it more often and go for SP1 not SP4 that they hope will magically be transformed into SP2 because of the defense behind them.

Adam Wainwright lobbying Oli Marmol for one more at bat

Adam Wainwright has achieved nearly everything he could before his eventual retirement next week, finally becoming the 122nd major league pitcher to win 200 games, joining former Cardinals like Jon Lester, Jesse Haines and Bob Gibson to achieve the feat

But there one more goal on Wainwright's bucket list that he wants to achieve before his retirement, according to Cardinals manager Oli Marmol.

Marmol joined Total Infomation A.M. to discuss the scene of Wainwright finally achieving his 200th win Monday, telling KMOX that Wainwright actually had a terrible bullpen session heading into the game.

"Waino was not feeling good," said Marmol, "His bullpen reps before the game was one of his worst ones, and to go out there and perform the way he did it was incredible."

With Wainwright achieving win number 200, it crossed off the biggest goal on Wainwright's bucket list before his eventual retirement at the end of the season, but Wainwright has a few more things to cross his bucket list, including asking Marmol to let him see one more major league at bat.

"He's definitely been lobbying for it I'll tell you that," said Marmol while chuckling, "There has to be a word above (lobbying)."

Marmol didn't give a definite answer as to whether Cardinals fan could see Wainwright take one final at bat, but he also didn't dismiss the idea.

The rest of the story

I don't see how it would hurt if Waino took another AB. Oli should let him know a couple of days in advance so he can get a few practice swings in beforehand.

I'm going to the Cards at Padres game Saturday. I'd love to see it. Meaningless game for both teams anyway. Why not? Though he might want to do it at Busch. He should get one more game there against the Reds next Friday. Or I guess they could let him pinch hit on a day when he's not pitching.

Waino had said that he wanted to get over .200 for a career BA before his career ended. He unfortunately didn't get the chance to do that when the DH came into the NL. I'm fine with him getting one last AB at Busch.

I do not have a problem with him pinch hitting once. However, I have seen some suggest elsewhere that he should be put in as the DH for some games. I do not agree with that.
