Here are the College Football Playoff match-ups:

-Rose Bowl Game presented by Prudential: #1 Michigan vs. #4 Alabama
-Allstate Sugar Bowl: #2 Washington vs. #3 Texas

Florida State is #5. Georgia is #6.

Florida State is first undefeated Power 5 team to not make College Football Playoff. Georgia will not be able to defend their national title and becomes first team to be ranked #1 in penultimate ranking to not make playoff.

With the national title game this year in Houston, the Longhorns would have a decided advantage in terms of fan support for both the semifinal and the national title game.

I’m fine with this. Bama has the best resume and has to be in. If Bama is in, Texas has to be in. FSU has no qb and has the worst resume. Sorry.

We haven’t seen this in football before, but basketball teams have lost 1 seeds in the past due to injury (Kenyon Martin). Sucks but it has to be this way. FSU isn’t one of the 4 best teams right now.

As a Member of the B1G, it is in our best interest for Michigan to be the National Champion - prestige and more importantly $$$. Indirect benefits yes, but it does filter down regardless.

I'm rooting for Washington. They'll be in the B1G next year and we don't typically lose multiple recruiting battles a year to them. I will never root for Michigan. Ever. I don't care who they're playing.

I am glad the current system ends after this year. Florida State beat everybody on their schedule (including 2 SEC teams), yet get left out for two teams with a loss on their schedule. That is not right.

Even without their star QB they won their last two games by two scores, including going to The Swamp to beat Florida in a rivalry game. Alabama needed a fluke td to beat Auburn at full strength. Both those teams (Florida and Auburn are 6-6). I simply do not see how Bama is that much better than Florida State. I mean FSU held Louisville's high powered offense to 6 points! The last two games they allowed an average of 10.5 points. That is elite. I guess scoring a lot of points is the only thing that matters anymore.

SEC money and pull is the only reason why we have Bama in and Florida State out. In essence, with conference reorgs next year, this playoff is two B1G teams and two SEC teams. I predicted this seeding, but it does not make it right. I am not a Florida State fan, but I will be pulling hard for them to beat Georgia.

Yes I agree somewhat but how many recruiting battles against Michigan do we really compete in? Better to worry about Miznoz, Indiana and Iowa in this aspect.

Most years they end up with 1-2 players that we are involved with. Last year they took like 5 of our top targets, mostly from IL. Obviously they recruit at a different level than us but having them win a NC sure would make it even more difficult to win any recruiting battle with them.

Yea basically saying the ACC is irrelevant and that actually playing the games doesn't matter at all. Alabama was not some juggernaut rolling people all season. Absolutely travesty that they get in over FSU.

But at the same time Bama has the best resume

They just beat Georgia pretty soundly, who was the presumed #1 team going into that game.
