Just watched semis and final of GIBT. CB4 game - dare I say, very reminiscent of of greatest Illini point guard ever.
Steve Bardo?
joking aside, I love Butler's trajectory.

Big fan of the former. The latter before my time.Andy Phillip?
I’m glad he won the MVP but I’m not sure there is a single top 100 player in this tournament after briefly scanning the rosters. It’s a pretty low level tourney, talent wise. I’d love to see how Jase does against the big boys.Just watched semis and final of GIBT. CB4 game - dare I say, very reminiscent of of greatest Illini point guard ever.
Meant JB4,obviously. Looked like decent competition, but I'm sure he'll get his opportunity to play against the big boys later in the season.I’m glad he won the MVP but I’m not sure there is a single top 100 player in this tournament after briefly scanning the rosters. Unfortunately, the level of competition won't prevent any of the hand-wringing, as we already saw DGL roast a league full of top college & NBA talent (2 of the top 5 NBA draft picks came out of this league) to the tune of 20+ points per game and we still had people who didn't want him because of how some online service ranked him.

Outside of mid major teams I don’t think that statement was incorrect. Things could change coming up, but his minutes played in our toughest games isn’t overwhelming.not to mention that some felt his slight frame would prevent him from getting on the floor

Marquette - 7 minutes, 0-3 with a foul
Rutgers - DNP
FAU - 2 minutes, only stat is 1 TO
Tennessee - 1 minute, only stat is 1 foul
Definitely one of the greatest, but y'all know who I'm talking about.Derek Harper
I was here early summer and ready all of that. I’m also not trying to bash him. I think he will be a good player. I do think part of the reason he isn’t playing recently is because of his defense, and part of his defensive struggles could be because of his current strength/frame. Some of that could be mental as well (learning the scheme and college game).I realize he isn't playing much, but that's because there are guys ahead of him (rather than being overwhelmed/overmatched). Go back to early summer on this thread and be ready to roll your eyes.
Andre Curbelo!Definitely one of the greatest, but y'all know who I'm talking about.
I think that it is a simple as that there are guys who are currently playing better ahead of him for tick. Hopefully, he continues to give 100% at practice and whenever he gets in. He has the tools to be extremely good. He will earn playing time if he stays the course. Also, he is only one injury away from being tapped to play significant minutes.I was here early summer and ready all of that. I’m also not trying to bash him. I think he will be a good player. I think the comments comparing him to Trent also aren’t apples to apples because while their statures are similar, Trent had to play because we didn’t have guys in front of him at the time.
All in all, I think he will be a good player for us in the future and wouldn’t want him to leave, but also think his current frame/strength could be one of the reasons he’s struggled defensively and isn’t seeing the floor.
If you're talking about Deron, I agree with you. But Harper, Frank Williams, and a few others are right up there.Definitely one of the greatest, but y'all know who I'm talking about.
Frank Williams?Definitely one of the greatest, but y'all know who I'm talking about.
We obviously don't.Definitely one of the greatest, but y'all know who I'm talking about.
Let's go! Let's make him redwingillini26!!!
Let's not forget Bruce Douglas or K.Garris, but for me, it has to be D.Will until someone else leads us to the promised land.We obviously don't.
Jodie Harrison?Definitely one of the greatest, but y'all know who I'm talking about.
Speaking of D. Will.: I was recently was thinking of a post-game presser with Dee and Deron, and Dee was asked about a ridiculous play Deron had made that night. Dee was asked what he was thinking when Deron made the play, and without missing a beat Dee just did the Sports Center Theme and the two them just started laughing. Those guys were alot of fun....Let's not forget Bruce Douglas or K.Garris, but for me, it has to be D.Will until someone else leads us to the promised land.
Billy Ridley?Jodie Harrison?
Tony Wysinger?
Will the national championship do? Whiz Kids led by national player of the year Andy Phillip in 1943.Let's not forget Bruce Douglas or K.Garris, but for me, it has to be D.Will until someone else leads us to the promised land.
