I don’t know why people think I’m saying what the Board has to say matters to this case. It obviously doesn’t.Not to be argumentative, but what this board says is 100% irrelevant outside the walls of this board. I share your hope that everything is above board for TJ's sake, but he, the university, and the whole Wide, Wide World of Sports don't give a flying attempt at relations with a rolling pastry what is said here. It matters to us, but no only else.
The Zero tolerance policy is absolutely the correct policy and he definitely should have been suspended when arrested.Agreed, which is why these zero tolerance policies are garbage.
Dude. Anyone know if he’s looking for a body double? I might have a shot.
Just like with fan sections though, it's going to look bad if he gets off no matter what. What we're made privy to thanks to some insiders won't be released to the general public. If charges are dropped or it's somehow resolved before going to court, TSJ and the team and the university are going to be absolutely roasted. I'm certain they know that and are preparing for it.I don’t know why people think I’m saying what the Board has to say matters to this case. It obviously doesn’t.
My point, which I guess isn’t coming off clearly, is. To the extent this bird, and every other board in the country is a reflection of public opinion for matters not related to the school the board is for, it this situation was happening at another school, this board would be jumping to conclusions just from the optics of how it’s handled. If coach K made some calls when a KU player is accused of something in Durham, god help us how this board, and every non-KU board in the country would react.
The policy is the antithesis of the concept of due process - the accused is assumed to be guilty and action taken, typically detrimental action, without any opportunity to examine the facts other than the fact he was arrested. It can supposedly be "cured" by lifting the suspension at some time in the future, but the irreparable damage has been done and cannot be undone,The Zero tolerance policy is absolutely the correct policy and he definitely said have been suspended when arrested.
TSJ could be completely innocent, but it isn’t the UofI policy that screwed him in this scenario.
Lol, I would love to discuss nuances if we had a separate page for us lawyers.... But I won't venture off here. This would fall under rape shield law that most states (including Kansas) have. In Kansas, you can’t introduce evidence of the victim’s prior sexual conduct (it generally includes any victim shaming and I think that would apply to her prior sexual allegations). Kansas law: Except as provided in subsection (c), in any prosecution to which this section applies, evidence of the complaining witness' previous sexual conduct with any person including the defendant shall not be admissible, and no reference shall be made thereto in any proceeding before the court, except under the following conditions…
I think that your point can apply to any situation, when it comes to fandom(actually, when it comes to this country). We live in a society where we thrive on other people's misfortune, especially when it comes to elite players, elite teams and/or rivals.Nothing I’ve said disagrees with that. All I said is let’s hope it is above board. Because if this exact same situation was happening with a KU player, we all know what this board would be saying, rightly or wrongly. Let’s just hope it’s all rightly
This is huge, if true. Here is my second-hand inside info -- the same alleged victim has also made a prior rape allegation against a KU basketball player, and the allegation was not believed by the KU program after investigation.
Bill Self and Underwood are also very good friends.
Gonna try and get this back on the rails.... A lot that is being done by people helping TSJ is because they have a pretty good idea of the person he is and what happened
It really is legal experts aside, if this is true (big if) the accusers reputation would be trash even if it could not be used in court. If I was a defendants attorney I would be for sure letting my accusers attorney know it was going to become public one way or another. This is huge, if true.
I prefer the idea that Bill Self is paying off the Lawrence PD because he doesn’t know any other wayGonna try and get this back on the rails.... A lot that is being done by people helping TSJ is because they have a pretty good idea of the person he is and what happened
There is no accusers attorney in a criminal case. Just the prosecutor and TJ's attorney. It really is legal experts aside, if this is true (big if) the accusers reputation would be trash even if it could not be used in court. If I was a defendants attorney I would be for sure letting my accusers attorney know it was going to become public one way or another.

Applies to everything on this board. It’s a fan message board and our opportunity to discuss things with people who share a common interest.I don’t know why people think I’m saying what the Board has to say matters to this case. It obviously doesn’t.
One of my two points is, which I guess isn’t coming off clearly, To the extent this board, and every other board in the country is a reflection of public opinion for matters not related to the school the board is for, it this situation was happening at another school, this board would be jumping to conclusions just from the optics of how it’s handled. If coach K made some calls when a KU player is accused of something in Durham, god help us how this board, and every non-KU board in the country would react. But the KU board is flooded with Coach K is awesome gifs. Regardless of what that actual circumstances of his involvement are.
Even when nobody knows nuttin'!Applies to everything on this board. It’s a fan message board and our opportunity to discuss things with people who share a common interest.
We need to pool money to settle with the accuser - how do we contribute to tsj freedom fund? I’m not joking btw. I once was arrested for not paying my cab fare, and while in court, the judge lambasted me for not settling in cash directly w the cab driver prior to wasting everyone’s time in court. The driver had somehow gotten my phone number and called like a week before court, asking me to settle.
It’s a very relatable allegation and should make people question how they handle educating adolescents about consent.I’m surprised (happily) that TSJ’s prior Twitter posts haven’t blown up with negative comments now that he’s back up.
