Not to be argumentative, but what this board says is 100% irrelevant outside the walls of this board. I share your hope that everything is above board for TJ's sake, but he, the university, and the whole Wide, Wide World of Sports don't give a flying attempt at relations with a rolling pastry what is said here. It matters to us, but no only else.
I don’t know why people think I’m saying what the Board has to say matters to this case. It obviously doesn’t.

One of my two points is, which I guess isn’t coming off clearly, To the extent this board, and every other board in the country is a reflection of public opinion for matters not related to the school the board is for, it this situation was happening at another school, this board would be jumping to conclusions just from the optics of how it’s handled. If coach K made some calls when a KU player is accused of something in Durham, god help us how this board, and every non-KU board in the country would react. But the KU board is flooded with Coach K is awesome gifs. Regardless of what that actual circumstances of his involvement are.

Just like with fan sections though, it's going to look bad if he gets off no matter what. What we're made privy to thanks to some insiders won't be released to the general public. If charges are dropped or it's somehow resolved before going to court, TSJ and the team and the university are going to be absolutely roasted. I'm certain they know that and are preparing for it.

I'm thinking about how I felt about Alabama last year. Even though that player only brought the gun to his friend, we all had some stuff to say about it, and I'm betting very few if any of us followed the case all the way through. That's exactly what every other fan base is about to do to TSJ whether we like it or not and whether everything is above board or not.

The Zero tolerance policy is absolutely the correct policy and he definitely said have been suspended when arrested.

TSJ could be completely innocent, but it isn’t the UofI policy that screwed him in this scenario.
The policy is the antithesis of the concept of due process - the accused is assumed to be guilty and action taken, typically detrimental action, without any opportunity to examine the facts other than the fact he was arrested. It can supposedly be "cured" by lifting the suspension at some time in the future, but the irreparable damage has been done and cannot be undone,

This would fall under rape shield law that most states (including Kansas) have. In Kansas, you can’t introduce evidence of the victim’s prior sexual conduct (it generally includes any victim shaming and I think that would apply to her prior sexual allegations). Kansas law: Except as provided in subsection (c), in any prosecution to which this section applies, evidence of the complaining witness' previous sexual conduct with any person including the defendant shall not be admissible, and no reference shall be made thereto in any proceeding before the court, except under the following conditions…
Lol, I would love to discuss nuances if we had a separate page for us lawyers.... But I won't venture off here.😄

Are we really sure Self is helping or is that just more “internet” gossip? I hope all of this is true, and I know our insiders are very well connected, but did I miss a post where one of them said Self was involved?

This is some fascinating stuff.

Nothing I’ve said disagrees with that. All I said is let’s hope it is above board. Because if this exact same situation was happening with a KU player, we all know what this board would be saying, rightly or wrongly. Let’s just hope it’s all rightly
I think that your point can apply to any situation, when it comes to fandom(actually, when it comes to this country). We live in a society where we thrive on other people's misfortune, especially when it comes to elite players, elite teams and/or rivals.

Let's take the Dodgers for example. How many people have taken shots at them and have criticized them, MLB and anything surrounding their maneuvers. If that was the Cubs(in my case), I'd be telling everyone how shrewd they're being.

Look at the commentary on the refs before the game even starts. We have people playing victim before the game even starts. ANY time there's a questionable call, we're being picked on, but at the same time...if that same call went in our favor, we'd be celebrating the refs for making the correct call on a close play.

Let's apply that example to recruiting. Anything another team does, we call cheating. If it's us, it's having great connections and being outstanding at operating in the "gray area".

I can give 20 examples of this way of thinking.

Is it really a shock that fans defend their own situation and smirk at the demise of others?

Of course we all want to things to be properly judged and for all parties to come to a sensible and fair conclusion. That goes without saying. However, when we have a gray area in this case....you expect people to not be hopeful and wish the best for our guy?

You can apply this same thought process when it comes to family and friends. If it's people they don't know and there's no affiliation, guilt is assumed. However, when it's in their own household or backyard....people hope for innocence until guilt is proven.

I'm not telling you how to think, but what I am saying that this is 100% the rule and not the exception.

Who was with TSJ at the bar. I doubt he just went to Lawerence to go to the bar alone

Were other Illini athletes with him? Were KU basketball players with him?

I would be interested to see who TSJ as witnesses of the event

Gonna try and get this back on the rails.... A lot that is being done by people helping TSJ is because they have a pretty good idea of the person he is and what happened

O/U #days until court appearance (the basketball one)

This is huge, if true.
It really is legal experts aside, if this is true (big if) the accusers reputation would be trash even if it could not be used in court. If I was a defendants attorney I would be for sure letting my accusers attorney know it was going to become public one way or another.

I’m surprised (happily) that TSJ’s prior Twitter posts haven’t blown up with negative comments now that he’s back up.

There is no accusers attorney in a criminal case. Just the prosecutor and TJ's attorney.

Applies to everything on this board. It’s a fan message board and our opportunity to discuss things with people who share a common interest.

We need to pool money to settle with the accuser - how do we contribute to tsj freedom fund? I’m not joking btw. I once was arrested for not paying my cab fare, and while in court, the judge lambasted me for not settling in cash directly w the cab driver prior to wasting everyone’s time in court. The driver had somehow gotten my phone number and called like a week before court, asking me to settle.

Everybody can guess this or that about what happened or is going to happen but there are only 2 People that know the real truth! Let's just let it play out.
