Purdue 83, Illinois 78 Postgame

Ugh, you are going to me make go clip this to show how wrong it is.

Jones was blocking out.

QG, giving maximum effort, jumped towards the ball which was towards Jones and to the left of each player. As in, he jumped over, but not all the way, Jones.

Jones was simply still in block out position. He stumbled back when QG was no longer there for him to lean into.

Crazy call in favor of the Illini.

Also, I think Quincy is okay. He made the free-throws gifted to him. Also the replay didn't look like he got a lot of weight on the wrist. His body did land on his arm, so he might be a little banged up.

If I remember correctly we had the exact same sort of play go against us last year. I believe there is a rule that you can’t box out a player that is jumping. It’s a stupid rule because there is no way the player boxing out can see behind him.

I don't agree. There were calls on both sides. The flagrant foul at the end shouldn't have been called and we would have been very upset if it was the other way around. The refs weren't the difference in the game.
I was confused by it being a flagrant too but I was most confused as to why they didn't call it a common foul in real time. Jones definitely drove back under QG when QG was in the air but I don't think he had a clue QG jumped. I almost feel as if their rationale was that it was such a dangerous play (intent aside) that they had to call it and the only way they could use to monitor to make the call was to call it a flagrant.

Didn’t think you could call a foul from replay. Probably why F1 was called since nothing was whistled on the floor

Question for the board. I understand that Hawkins give us the best chance offensively, but should Dain had gotten a more mins? Especially in the early/middle of the 2nd half when Edey was getting going. If nothing else a bigger body to throw at Edey and I would assume he'd help much more on the boards.
No. Danja just can't defend. Especially against such an athletic team. Love him when we are on O, but he's an easy juke when on D.

You can’t give Purdue second chance points, they will beat you. However, if we had Shannon tonight we would’ve won. I think we have a good chance against them in Champaign at the end of the year.

I love Ty Rodgers as much as anyone can love Ty Rodgers.

You can't win if he doesn't even fake like he is going to look to take a jumper. You can't.
Wholeheartedly agree. I don't know the situation at practice and all, but if he's not going to be an outside threat (or even a mid-range jumper threat), it will allow the opposing team to double team guys like Domask, Hawkins and QG.

Obviously there's outliers, but when Rodgers was on the floor, Edey was on the floor as well...

That's a 42 point differential between their +/-... rough rough looks.

That's what I assume. I don't know college rules well enough to say if it was really a flagrant 1 or not. I think it's one of those calls that's technically correct but feels unfair (to Purdue, in this instance).

Love the fight in this group ... Love what Harmon has turned into ... He has found his swagger ...

Domask is an ELITE second option ...

We dug that hole in the beginning and just didn't have enough to get back ... But if you can hold Edey to 10 points and force Loyer and Smith to take tough shots (think they were 5-20?) ... Then I will take my chances every single day of the week ... And hats off to Kaufman ... That kid battled tonight ...

If this is our toughest game until the post season ... Which IMO it is ... We will be just fine ... Especially once we get TJ back ...

I see what you did there………and I approve!!!!!

It was disappointing with the slow start; it brought bad memories from BU's past teams when playing a real good team. So, to me, it was "same old, same old."

And it's frustrating because we want UI to be an elite program, and I know you can't win them all, but everyone needs to step up.

Without having their best player and not ever giving up, that is a very positive thing, I have to point out.

This team should now have the confidence to beat all the teams they should beat with or without TSJ--even on the road.
